It would be interesting to know the $ amount of various capper's units

I know this could be considered confidential but knowing how much money someone is making means more than how many units they are up. I understand a pick is a pick but if your unit is $25 and someone else has $100 or even $1000 units, it can be misleading.

I just wonder who is really cashing but there plus units are low and who has high units that doesn't amount to much cash.

It doesn't matter if you are a blind follower of someone on here. You will make yours. However, I wonder if the guys with guts are really getting the respect they deserve. The one's who make their own decisions and wager larger.

Understand I am not saying anyone has the right to know other's business, I just think it would level the playing field about who are the better gamblers, or at least who puts their money where their words are. Of course anyone could lie about it but I find that gamblers are some of the most honest people you will meet.

There is sort of a code, whether it be on the golf course or in the forum.

Does it really make you a better capper than someone if you go are 6-5 but just have more money to bet than someone who is 6-1 with smaller units and smarter money management?

Not a better capper, I agree, perhaps just deserving of more respect than they would normally get here. People will see someone + 80 units on the year and they may have made the same money as someone + 8 units. It is a minor point and the +80 guy is still the better capper but it would be more equitable for all viewers and followers if a unit was the same for everyone, whether 1 unit is $100 or whatever.

what you need to watch is how many units are bet per bet on average.

for example, someone that bets 10 units or 5 units as their flat bet amount and ends up +80 on the season is one thing, but someone that is only betting 1 or 2 units per bet and ends up +40 units would be a whole lot better.

Just be on the lookout for this...

True. I bet 1 unit or 2 units 95 % of the time. Rarely I may bet 3, almost never more. I never do .5 or 1.5 etc just out of respect for my book mainly. It just occurred to me that if I had $25 units instead of $100 units my +7.65 on the year would look wrongly triumphant.

Someone with dime units would look quite meager unless they had the guts to be going 3 or more unit bets.

should reflect a % of your bankroll.

1 unit = 1%

so when you see a 100 unit play, just laugh. unless someone is risking 100% of their bankroll.

I won't say what my Unit is, But when I Post a Play...I'm posting 1-5 Unit Plays. I Grade it as a $100 per unit Bet.
But I Bet More than that Unit size.

That's why I Love the ones that Post 50 or 100 Unit Plays !!!
In most cases, that accounts for a $50 or $100 Play....It just makes you think it's a Very Large Bet. :ohno:

Why would you or anyone care ? .......

I guess it makes you more of a badass if you make 200k a yr and can bet at $2000 per unit and go 6-5 than a person making 20k per year and go 6-1 at $50 per unit i guess. Guess the rich guy still would be considered a "better capper" based on what this thread is telling me but could be wrong.

The point is you can't really tell how good a capper is in the true sense if you are just looking at units when the units aren't uniform across the board.

I think that is why people use units.

The best capper has the most units ... not the most money.
Some people might only have a limited bank roll to work with ... but if they are hitting a better percentage, they are still a better capper.

For instance ... let's say you blindly follow Capper A (but he only bets $25 a unit) compares to Capper B (who is $50 a unit). Capper A wins more units, but less money because he bets a lot less.
You personally play Capper A with your usual $100 a unit. You win more following the guy who bets less but wins more units.

6-1 is usually a better capper, although MLB is not as straight foward as BB or FB. I don't care if a unit is $1 or $1000. It would just be easier to tell how everyone is doing if it were more uniform in baseball.

I think my logic only applies if I am not a follower, which I am not. If I lowered my unit to $25 I am +30.6 units instead of + 7.65 units. If you don't know my unit value I look great as a $25 bettor.

Yeah but if you followed at your own unit amount (lets say $100) you would be up $3,060 vs being up $765 following the guy that bets more cash.

Absolutely! However, the posting of units has the appearance of greatness the lower your unit value if you are playing the same amount of $ but tagging it with a different unit value than someone else.
