Cleveland Browns general manager Tom Heckert says the team has had talks with the St. Louis Rams about moving up in the NFL draft to take quarterback Sam Bradford with the No. 1 overall pick.

Heckert on Thursday said the Browns, who have the No. 7 pick, have been "'playing a little phone tag" but said they have talked with the Rams, who are expected to select the Oklahoma quarterback.

Browns president Mike Holmgren warned that dealing for Bradford could be difficult, saying "you'd have to mortgage the ranch. In the real world, we're probably going to go in a different direction."

Currently owning 10 picks, Cleveland could put together an attractive package of picks to move up.

Bradford did not visit the Browns, but the team attended his pro day workout.

The last two years moves by the Browns rival the Raiders and Bills for being the worst.

dont think the Rams would drop that far down....they need a QB just as bad. Not gonna happen.

The Browns should tank one more year and get Mallett out of Arkansas or Locker out of Washington next year. Those 2 QB's are way better than the bums in this years draft.

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

I think the Browns have drafted some great players over the last few years. However, some of their "off draft" moves are suspect for sure.

Right, and now one of the cornerstones (Quinn), they give away.

Yea.. without even giving Quinn a fair shot. They put up with the lowest rated quaterback in the leauge (Anderson) for way too long. Now both quarterbacks are gone.

I don’t see this trade happening, but I would not be surprised if the Browns are creative during the draft. The Browns do need to select a QB, maybe the second round or most likely the third. Could be Tebo later or perhaps Classen if he falls into the second round.

Exactly!! Mallett, Locker, and Gabbert could all go top 10 next year.
