I have been watching a game for about 30 minutes now and have no idea how they keep score or any rules in general. It is the craziest sport I have ever seen. There is a huge crowd watching this thing.

Depends, if it is a One day test match or 3 or 5 day match.

A one day test, if I am not mistaken consist of 50 overs, which means 6 pitches per over.

So, for example a team could see all 300 pitches. If the umpire calls a Wide ball, mean well outside, they have to pitch again. So, you can't throw it wide on purpose.

As for the scoring. If you hit it out on the fly outside the white circular boundary in any direction, it is 6 runs. if you hit and rolls on the ground or hits the ground before exiting over the white boundary it is 4 runs.

If you hit (the equivalent of a single, you can score one run, as you and the other batsman (baserunner) will be switching positions.

If the ball is caught in the air you are out. If the defense gets ball to the wicket before you reach past the line (the base) you would then be out. That is much more difficult.

It is actually a very intersting game, used to think it was stupid.

The Australian National Team, as of 28 April 2007, is undefeated in 29 consecutive World Cup matches.

Easiest thing for an American to watch is the Twenty20 which only lasts 3 hours tops.

I don't understand it at all. Here in a small town 15 mile north of Columbus, I see no pickup baseball games but lots of cricket games.
Kind of sad for me since I grew up playing sandlot baseball just about every day.
I know this is off-topic but do kids play pickup baseball games anywhere in the US anymore?

Do kids even play outside anymore. I can remember growing up and cars having to worry about kids in the street playing football/baseball, now it is a ghost town in my neighborhood
