Spin:
He tested his back in the batting cages Sunday but decided not to play. Before taking his cuts, Rolen said, "I'm feeling better, I'm trying to figure out if I can play Major League Baseball. I can walk around like a normal human being. But that's a little different than what I'm being called upon to do." Paul Janish is playing third base once again Sunday.

Carlos Quentin will get the day off for the White Sox, and despite his .136 average Kotsay will get a shot in the third spot.

Spin:
David Murphy will take over in center, while Elvis Andrus will be leading off for the Rangers, and he'll likely continue to do so until Borbon proves he's capable of handling the role. MLB.com reports that Borbon will be batting in the ninth spot when the Rangers play again on Tuesday.

Spin:
Varitek, who has opened the season with a power surge -- having hit homers in three of his first nine at-bats -- gets some work behind the pate in on Sunday, while Victor Martinez is slated to DH.

Spin:
Jason Varitek will catch, with Victor Martinez in line to DH Sunday. Meanwhile, Ortiz, who is 4 for his last 17 (with four doubles), expressed some optimism about his hitting Saturday, saying "I feel like my timing is getting better...I'll tell you what, some explosions are coming."

</nobr><nobr>New York Mets</nobr>
</td><td valign="top">Pitching coach Dan Warthen said on the Mets' post-game show following the team's 2-1, 20-inning win that Rodriguez warmed up nine times.
Spin:
Rodriguez added that he believes he threw 100 warm-up pitches and came into the 19th inning with a "dead" arm. K-Rod blew the save, but given how frequently he warmed up and number of pitches he threw, there is some explanation for it. The Mets bullpen is taxed after this game but manager Jerry Manuel would be wise to give Rodriguez Sunday off.

</td><td valign="top">Soriano picked up two saves on Saturday, as the Rays finished Friday night's games before playing Saturday's game.
Spin:
Soriano tossed two scoreless innings, striking out one without a walk or hit. He's had no injuries so far this year and should eclipse the 40-save mark if he continues to stay healthy.

<nobr>News Archive
</nobr><nobr>New York Mets</nobr>
</td><td valign="top">Reyes' (foot) move from leadoff to the No. 3 spot in the lineup is taking a backseat at least for a few more days as manager Jerry Manuel senses Reyes is not completely sold on the switch, ESPN New York reports.
Spin:
Manuel also doesn't want to burden him with that batting order change while Reyes is still knocking off the rust from three weeks of spring-training inactivity because of a thyroid issue. In addition, Reyes, who is hitting just .171 after going 0-for-7 Saturday, is also slowed running the bases by a protective guard he is wearing on his foot after fouling a ball off it in Colorado.

We're going to go out on a limb and guess he'll get Sunday off.

Day-To-Day</td><td valign="top">DeRosa is being deemed "day-to-day" regarding his strained right hamstring injury, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Spin:
Manager Bruce Bochy called the injury "minor," but DeRosa said he felt like he got shot with a BB gun while suffering the injury while running the bases Saturday. It's something DeRosa hasn't experienced before, and these injuries can linger or lead to other leg problems when athletes overcompensate. So we'll have to wait and watch.</td></tr></tbody></table>

Ramiro Pena will start at short and bat ninth for the Yankees. Jeter should return to the lineup for the Yankees' next game.

Tejada should miss a few games. Ty Wigginton likely moves to third base and the Orioles will use Julio Lugo or Justin Turner at second base.
