Tim Tebow Got His Chance To Make An Impression In 2010
One year ago all eyes were on Florida for Tim Tebow's Pro Day. Tebow was trying to make a case that he was a fast learner and could adapt his game to a pro style and be successful in the NFL.
One year later Tebow still has questions, but to call him a bust at this point means you either are not paying attention or you just do not like Tebow.
Tebow's final stat line for 2010 was 41-82 for 654 yards and five touchdowns with three picks through three starts. These numbers are not great, but compared to Jimmy Clausen, Tebow is a Pro Bowl quarterback.
You would like to see a higher completion percentage, but Denver's receivers are not the league-leading type. Only three picks in three starts is good for a rookie, though.
At the end of the day you have a rookie quarterback who showed a lot of promise. His playing style looked similar to Michael Vick's at times, and he has the size to take the hits a scrambling quarterback takes.
The Broncos had him start the final three games of the season partially because of injuries to Kyle Orton and partially because the season was over and they had to see what they had in Tebow.
What they have right now is potential. Kyle Orton played great football last year despite the adverse conditions in Denver. To cast Orton aside now would be foolish. That does not mean you bury Tebow on the bench, but it does mean Tebow could be the starting quarterback for the Broncos or another team in 2012.
At the end of his first year, Tebow is not where he needs to be, but he is farther along than many of his critics ever thought he would be.
