Trade up to draft......... Tebow? LMFAO....not to mention trade Marshall, pass on Dez, and then trade up to draft a 3rd string QB....it is going to be a long season in Denver.

Only time will tell what McDaniels is doing.

Josh McDaniels and GM Brian Zanders are most definitely rolling the dice with the Tiebow selection but that doesn't mean they will not come up winners.

Demaryious Thomas has an excellent chance to be a top tier wide out in the NFL. Tiebow is a real wild card I admit but if his history at Florida tells us anything is he should not be underestimated. Most likely Bronco fans will see is a lot of "Wilcat" offense once Tiebow breaks into the offense.

Their 11th pick traded in first round traded to the Niners picked them up the Niners' 13th pick with which they drafted Georgia Tech's Demaryious Thomas plus The Niners pick in the 4th round.

Thomas is being compared to Marshall without the attitude by Denver Brass and they have good reason to make that claim - time will tell if they are right or wrong. The 4th rounder could end up contributing somewhere this year for the Broncos or end up dealt in another deal.

I like Thomas a lot, take a look, he was a third-team All-American selection by the AP in 2009, a semi-finalist for the Biletnikoff Award (given to the top receiver in the collegiate ranks) and first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection at wide receiver. The 6-foot-3, 224-pound receiver (Marshall is 6'4" 230) averaged more than 25 yards per catch last season and ranked second in the ACC in receiving yards per game. Nothing to sneeze at..

In a run happy Yellow Jacket offense, Thomas accumulated 1,154 receiving yards and eight touchdowns last season in the competitive ACC, bringing his career totals to 120 receptions, 2,339 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Ramblin Wreck. That tells me he is a playmaker which could see him starting at wideout his rookie year.

Amazingly Thomas averaged 82.4 yards receiving per game last season when his team averaged just a total of just 126.7 per game passing. He was The Tech passing game.

-----------

In return for Tiebow at the Ravens 25th selection the Broncos gave up in return the 43rd, 70th and 114th overall selections. Thats a 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounder for the unkown potential of Tim Tiebow. Sure the deal is a gamble by Denver but one that has it's jury out for at least a season or more.

Tebow, the only sophomore ever to win the Heisman Trophy, is a two-time BCS national champion -- he won as a freshman and won again in 2008 as the starting quarterback -- and owns five NCAA, 14 SEC and 28 University of Florida records.

The two-time SEC Offensive Player of the Year threw for 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Gators, while having also gained 2,947 yards on the ground with 57 rushing touchdowns, both school records by a Florida quarterback. In his last game in college, he set Sugar Bowl and BCS bowl records with 533 yards of total offense, 482 passing yards and a completion percentage of 88.6.

At the NFL Combine, Tebow was a top performer at his position in the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, broad jump, the 3-cone drill, the 20-yard shuttle and the 60-yard shuttle. Can you say athelete..

Crazy like a fox is Josh McDaniels..Look for more wheeling and dealing on Friday.

FWIW - I am a long way from being a Broncos fan.

I don't see why it's seen as a big gamble. The guy is undoubtedly the best cfb player in many, many years, and he's going to show up the first day of training camp with a yes, sir attitude. He is going to produce at wherever they put him, and I think he's going to produce at QB for a long time.

I agree but with many so called experts calling it a gamble I gave them the benefit of the doubt. There is a chance he will not find a niche in the pro game in which case the Broncos are out 3 draft picks that all could have flopped themselves..

I have to agree with you guys. Like him or not the guy is a winner, leader, and a great football player. He may have a slow release that is low at times, but I know with the game on the line I would want the ball in his hands. I look forward to watching how this plays out.

He has plenty of guts also.

Tebow started against Kentucky on Sept. 26th despite suffering from a respiratory illness and taking two bags of intravenous fluids before the game.
He ran for two touchdowns to put him in 2nd place on the all-time SEC touchdown list and he also threw for a touchdown.

Late in the third quarter he was hit in the chest by Kentucky defensive end Taylor Wyndham and then in the back of the head while falling by knee of Florida tackle Marcus Gilbert. Upon impact, he briefly displayed a prominent Fencing Response with his left arm, indicating that a concussion had taken place. He lay motionless for several minutes before being helped to the sidelines. Once there, he vomited.

He was taken by ambulance to the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. A CT scan showed no bleeding in the brain, with the injury described as a mild concussion.

Coach Urban Meyer stayed the night in the hospital with Tebow, who was discharged in the morning.

Two weeks later after a Gator bye week on Oct 10th Tiebow and the Florida squad travelled to legenday Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge to play arch-rival LSU in front of 93,000 fanatical Tiger faithful.

Only hours after being cleared by the Florida Medical staff Tebow completed 11 of 16 passes for 134 yards and threw a 24-yard TD strike to his roommate, senior wide receiver Riley Cooper, late in the first half to spark 13-3 Gator victory. Tebow also rushed for 38 yards on 17 carries in the hard fought contest.

Thats a bigger problem if they cant use 3 draft picks. Makes you wonder why they traded for Quinn. The WR is a great pick.

My guess is he will not be used as a full time QB. He'll probably be used in a role similar to when Florida won their first BCS with him as Freshman.

Chris Leak was the main QB with Tebow as the option.

In Denver Quinn will be the main QB because he has a stronger arm than Tebow. Tebow will be the option.

If this doesn't pan out it could cost Daniels his job.

INMHO, it's a waste of a 1st Round pick. You probably could've got him later.

This was a very idiotic pick. Shoot Denver could have stayed were they were in the second round and got Tebow. Tebow is NOT an NFL caliber QB. McDaniels will be fired in 2 years as Denver completely implodes.

This is the NFL...these defenses will cause him fits...the speed of the game will not allow him to be a sucessful NFL QB...he will thrive in another position...

It's really kinda funny how so many posters here think that drafting potential NFL players is an exact science. There are tons of " can't miss " picks that in fact did miss and there are tons of gambles that turned out to be " gems ". I could name hundreds but I will just mention a few ... Bart Starr 17 round, Tom Brady 6 th round, Richard Dent 7 th round, Terrell Davis 6 th round, Joe Montana 3 rd round ! I rest my case ! :toast:

I give McDaniels 2 or 3 years before he gets run out of town, and he will never be a head coach again.

I agree about, they could have got him in the 2nd Round.
I can't think of Any other team that wanted him, that was coming up.

There was a Rumor that the Bills were looking at him. But other than that...Denver could have got him Tonight.

agree, nfl defenses are much different than college. in college you can get by on your athletic ability, nfl is not the same. how many good college qb's that ran the spread offense in college have done well in the pro's? not many

Me thinks there is more than meets the eye here.
Denver more than likely has a deal with a team and or teams brewing I bet.
McDaniels is not a complete idiot, something more is coming I think.

Say what you will, but I believe Brady Quinn will be the starting QB with Tebow as the option.

Quinn was never really given a chance. The Browns were a "Cancer" of an organization.

Or as Billhill999 stated, maybe Daniels has something up his sleeve. Maybe trade bait?

You are right.

And that is where the brains kick in and that is what makes Tebow a grwat choice and will make him a great NFL QB.

I would rather have Tebow reading defense's in the NFL than let's say McNabb! That isn't even a contest.

Tebow also has a great arm and he will prove that again too.

Results suck for some people.

You all listen to Mel Kiper too much :ohno:
