Let's hope Bret Michaels gives us a speedy recovery to believe in.
The Poison frontman is in critical condition at an undisclosed Los Angeles-area hospital after suffering a brain hemorrhage late Thursday, People reports.

Poison's rep declined to comment on his condition, but a source close to Michaels' camp told People that the 47-year-old singer complained of an excruciating headache and was rushed to the hospital just before midnight. Doctors discovered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage—bleeding at the base of his brain stem.

The bandanna-sporting rocker was placed in intensive care under "intense observation" and his doctors are "running several tests to determine the cause," the source said.

Michaels had an emergency appendectomy in San Antonio on April 12 and stayed in the hospital a few extra days under his personal doctor's supervision before moving to a rehab clinic specializing in treating diabetics.

this doesn't sound good....

:ohno:

Brain stem bleed. Very, very bad. Worst location for a brain injury. The positive is that he didn't die from the hemorrhage, which apparently happens 40% of the time with this type.

wonder if it's possible this had anything to do with it? this happened less than a year ago...maybe it damaged something and it finally burst....

Looks like it hit the front of his head. However, a girl at a hockey game got hit by the puck and what killed her wasn't the direct hit but the recoil of her brain hitting her skull. So I'm thinking this might be related to his injury as well.

damn...how does a person recover from 2 near death experiences in less than 2 weeks...

not a big fan of poison, however have seen them many times in concert as the openers...they put on a great show and he seems to be truthful in the fact that he does it for the love of music...he also just seems like a regular guy....

say what you want about him but this guy has lived a life that borders incredible when you look at all the women he has had...hope he don't die,but if he has any permanent damage i personally think he would want to die...

Sure It's A Thorn, But O What A Rose

(<)<

^<<^

Brett's been a pure class act all the way, from his incredibly immortal songs with Posin to his tasteful reality shows, enabling so many of our fine young ladies to have a chance to share what's he's got, and learned, from all those years on the steel horse.

But Every Rose Has Its Thorn, and there will be many a sad teenager across the land, not to mention close personal friend Donald Trump, who will shed a tear of sadness for the loss of our beloved BandanaMan, Brett Jon Lee Michaels.

Fly on, you crazy dancin' Freebird.

Fly on.

Michaels in critical condition with hemorrhage

<cite>Associated Press - April 23, 2010 11:57 PM PDT

LOS ANGELES - Bret Michaels is in critical condition suffering from a brain hemorrhage, his publicist said Friday. Joann Mignano confirmed a report on People magazine's website Friday that said the former Poison frontman was rushed to intensive care late Thursday after a severe headache. The report said doctors discovered bleeding at the base of his brain stem.
Mignano said tests are being conducted and that no further information was available.
The 47-year-old reality TV star had an emergency appendectomy last week after complaining of stomach pains. He said on his website that though the surgery "has taken its toll," doctors expected him to make a full recovery.
Michaels starred on the VH1 dating show "Rock of Love" and is a contestant on Donald Trump's NBC reality show, "The Celebrity Apprentice."
Trump said in a statement Friday that he was "deeply saddened" to hear of Michaels' condition.
"He's a great competitor and champion, and I hope he will be fine,"

Amen.

Feel the same way. Not a huge Poison fan and didn't really to this day think they would be talked about to be honest. Good Ok band in the heyday but it was drinking music with friends and wished they'd play music I really digged but Poison was a good ice breaker for the time being. Bret grew on me as time has gone on and I think it's mainly because of a period of time he still held a mantel to and won't let go. Sorta like a dingle berry to Van Halen or AC/DC. But you gotta have dingle berries. Should that be two words or one?

wonder if thats a hint to the fact that he won this season of Apprentice?

not that it's all that important right now, since he is in such bad condition, but as a fan of the show, and Brett, it makes me wonder if he wins..

Take the under

I was very saddened indeed to learn and see that the censors here took the tasteful smiley collage off the top of my post. It said what words couldn't, and I question those who would deny the fine readers of this fine site to see how fine a thing it is that Brett should be just fine if he pulls through.

Please note the time of my Trump call and then the time of AP's release of Trump's well-wishing. I easily called that and if I wasn't paying -115 to those hacks at UP I'd be way ahead of this game.

Donkey, the Chicago Style Guide might let dingle berries go, but my OED says dingleberries all the way. And when it comes to matters of encrusted fecal matter, always trust the Brits.

Donkey, I also contest the likening of Brett to a dingleberry on VH or AC/DC's butts. I think a moistened yet still valiantly unpopped pustule on their upper neck area would be far more accurate, and less of a smear on what has truly been one of the finest careers in the fourth generation popmetal arena.

I grieve right now especially strongly for all the fine young ladies who may be denied their shot on what would have been the next 25 seasons of Rock Of Love. Imagine Brett at 73 and the next Anna Nicole Smith walks in. That's a match made in heaven, but if Brett gets there too soon how will we ever learn about the next ANS?

There are many aspects to a tragedy such as this, and I urge all concerned to not overlook our many potential futures and alternate realities.

Soylent Green may after all really turn out to be an all-beef product, and mighty tasty as well.

And Brett, if you're already in Heaven reading this, tell St. Peter to take the under and fade the home dogs.

and if you are talking about the "title section" of your post, where u said "take the under" the system does not allow more than one icon posted there, so when u kept hitting different ones, you were just replacing the one before it, and when u hit the "open pages" icon, that was the last one and it stayed...

so YOU are the one who censored your own post, not us

update....

LOS ANGELES Tests results indicate Bret Michaels has a lack of sodium in his body that leads to seizures, according to a message posted Tuesday on the website of the glam rock-reality TV star.

The condition, called hyponatremia, is a side effect of a brain hemorrhage that has left the Poison frontman in intensive care at an undisclosed hospital.

The tests also found the 47-year-old Michaels suffered a type of stroke that causes bleeding in the fluid-filled spaces around the base of the brain.

Michaels' New York-based publicist Joann Mignano provided a written statement confirming the Web posting.

The message said doctors are hopeful Michaels will gradually improve as the blood surrounding the brain dissolves and is reabsorbed into his system.

From what I read his type 1 diabetes was not related. Really glad he is doing OK and expected to make a full recovery.
