I'll be posting Sunday's report starting around 7 AM PST

Saturday MLB Recap
-The Nationals dropped to 9-9, failing in their bid to climb 2 games above .500 for the first time since they were 3-1 in April 2008.
-San Diego Padres winning streak is their longest since winning 10 in a row last May 15-25.
-Padres RHP Chris Young is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Monday in Florida.
-In 2009, the opposition hit .350 versus Cleveland SP Fausto Carmona's fast ball. This season, that number is down to .227. On Saturday, Oakland was 7-for-24 against the pitch, but they were seven singles. Carmona threw 80 fastballs out of his 103 pitches on Saturday.
-New York Yankees SP Andy Pettitte's 1.29 ERA after 4 starts is his lowest ever at this stage of the season.
-The Pirates have lost 5 in a row and dropped to 0-9 when they're held to 3 runs or fewer.
-Baltimore fell to 2-16, losing their 5th straight game and 10th in a row against Boston despite a season-high 17 hits.
-Milwaukee SP Doug Davis has been a disaster in his first 3 outings with the Brewers this year, giving up 24 hits and 15 earned runs in 12 innings.
-Detroit IF Miguel Cabrera has reached base safely in 17 of the last 18 games, has an AL-leading 22 RBIs.
-Philadelphia OF Jayson Werth enjoyed his 8th career multihomer game, as he's 11-for-24 with 6HR and 8RBI in his last six games.
-Arizona Diamondbacks have been outscored 20-2 in the 8th inning this season.

Baltimore Orioles
-The Orioles are 3-20 in their last 23 road games and 27-66 on the road since the start of the 2009 season.
-Boston won the season series in 2009, 16-2, as they swept four of the six series. The Red Sox have won 10 straight games over the Birds.
-3B Ty Wigginton has reached base in 11 of his last 12 games and is tied for 2nd in the AL with 6HR on the year.
-C Matt Wieters has batted safely in seven straight games, hitting .379 (11-29) over that span. He leads the team and is tied for 2nd in the AL with 8 multi-hit games.
-Since 9/17/09, the Orioles are 6-29 and have a .248 team batting average. The Birds have the fewest wins in the majors during that time and have 8 blow saves in those 35 games.
-Opposing starting pitchers have pitched 6 innings or more 14 times and 7 innings or more 10 of the 18 games in 2010 against the Orioles.
-SP David Hernandez has not allowed a home run in 3 starts this year, after allowing 27 homers in 19 starts in 2009. The Orioles have lost his last 12 starts since he beat Oakland on 8/11/09.

San Diego Padres
-Continued their winning ways, taking their 8th straight with a 5-0 victory over the Reds. The 8-game winning streak is their longest since winning 10 straight from 5/15-5/25/09.
-Today's starter Clayton Richard is 0-2 through his first 3 starts despite posting a 3.38 ERA while working more than 5 innings and allowing 3 runs or less in each outing. Richard has been matched up against Jorge De La Rosa, Tommy Hanson and Matt Cain, pitchers that went a combined 41-21 last year.
-Pitching staff has posted a 2.73 ERA this year, ranking 1st in the Majors.
-With a 2.70 ERA, the bullpen ranks 3rd in the NL, as they are limiting opponents to a .190 average that is tops in all of baseball. The Padres are 1 of just 3 MLB teams to have not recorded a loss by their bullpent (Twins/Pirates).
-Richard is 0-5 with a 6.52 ERA and a .326 opponents average over 18 career appearances, 12 starts, during the day.

Boston Red Sox
-The club is 4-5 so far on their current 10-game homestand that finishes today. After today's game the Sox travel to Toronto and then Baltimore.
-Boston is 5-7 at Fenway park in 2010, its worst record through 12 home games since going 4-8 in 1996.
-The winning run has crossed the plate in the 7th inning or later in each of Boston's last 5 victories dating back to 4/14 at Minnesota. The club has taken the lead in the 7th inning or later in 7 of 8 wins overall.
-Each of Boston's last 4 wins have been decided by 1 run
-The Red Sox are 3rd in the AL with 24 HRs, sitting behind Toronto (26) and Chicago (23). Boston has homered 14 times in 9 games this homestand.
-RP Jonathan Papelbon owns a 0.87 ERA in 33 career games against the Orioles. He ranks 1st all-time among pitchers with at least 30 innings against Baltimore.
-Team is currently 2-4 in the afternoon this season, logging a 6.06 ERA and .233 batting average.
-SP Tim Wakefield is looking for his 1st victory since 7/8/09, his last outing before hitting the DL on 7/21. He is 0-3 with a 6.18 ERA in 7 starts since returning from the DL on 8/26/09, his 3rd-longest career winless stretch as a starter.

Philadelphia Phillies
-The Phillies are 3-3 in day games so far this season. Their 3.23 ERA is 5th-best in the National League. Offensively, the Phils are hitting .254 in day games with 30 runs scored (5 rpg). Last year, Philadelphia went 28-17 in day games, which was the best winning percentage among all NL teams.
-Hitters have 99 strikeouts, which is tied for the lowest total in the NL (HOU) and is tied for the 3rd-fewest among all MLB teams (CHW - 93, KC - 96).
-Pitching staff has compiled a 2.78 ERA on the road this season, which leads the NL and is 2nd-best in baseball (TB).
-SP Kyle Kendrick is 9-8 with a 5.21 ERA in 27 career road starts, as the Phillies are 14-13 in those games. He's 0-0 with a 3.75 ERA in two road starts this season.

Detroit Tigers
-The Tigers defeated the Texas Rangers 8-4 last night at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
-Relievers have posted a 0.39 ERA over the last 7 games. Overall, the bullpen has posted a 6-3 record and a 2.32 ERA through the club's first 18 games this season, which leads the AL in both categories.
-Detroit leads all AL clubs with 7.17 runs per game and 1.44 home runs per game at Rangers Ballpark since the start of the 2006 season.
-Lead the AL with a .372 on-base percentage, while the club is 2nd with a .278 batting average.
-SP Rick Porcello is an even 1-1 with a 6.46 ERA in 3 starts this season. He's making his first start at Rangers Ballpark this afternoon, after he topped all AL rookies with 14 wins in the 2009 season.

Chicago Cubs
-Last night, the Cubs won their 2nd-straight game for just the second time this season. SP Ted Lilly made his season debut, tossing 6 shutout innings and allowing just 3 hits.
-Tomorrow night the Cubs will square off against the Nationals in the first night game of the 2010 season. Chicago owns a 221-199 record since the installation of lights at Wrigley in 1988. Chicago was 13-14 in night games last season.
-RP Carlos Marmol boasts a 0.93 ERA, tied for 9th amongst relievers with a minimum of 9IP. He has also struck out 19 batters, which ranks first amongst all relievers.
-Starters have posted a 1.95 ERA with 53 strikeouts and 18 walks in the last 10 games. Overall, the Cubs have 12 quality starts in their first 18 games - good for fourth most in baseball (Cardinals 14).
-Cubs outfielders have driven in 35 runs so far this sesason, which is tied for 4th in baseball.
-SP Randy Wells is 1-0 with a 0.82 ERA in 2 career starts at Miller Park. The right-hander is 1-0 with a 0.75 ERA in 2 road starts this season compared to no record with a 5.68 ERA at home.

Toronto Blue Jays
-The Jays have not won a series in Tampa of 3 games or more since April 2007. Overall, Toronto is 12-26 vs Tampa Bay dating back to 2008.
-With last night's loss, Toronto had their 6-game win streak on the road come to an end. It was the longest such streak on the road since 2003.
-Toronto currently leads the Majors in extra base hits this season with 77, nine more than the next best club (Milwaukee). They also lead the Majors in home runs and total bases.
-SP Brandon Morrow is 5-4 with a 4.91 ERA in 18 games as a starter, although he has held opponents to a .235 average when starting.
-Morrow doesn't have a record with a 1.86 ERA in five games (1 start) against the Rays in his career.

Houston Astros
-SP Brett Myers havs posted a 2.64 ERA in 8 career appearances (7 starts) against Pittsburgh.
-SS Jeff Keppinger's .533 average against left-handed pitchers ranks 2nd in the NL.
-Astros' pinch hitters are hitting .308, which is tied for 3rd in the NL.
-Today is the 6th game (4-1 so far) of a 9-game home stand for the Astros. Houston is in the midst of playing 22 of their first 31 games in 2010 at home.
-Bullpen combined to retire 22 consecutive batters over a 4-game stretch until an Andy LaRoche single in the 9th last night. The pen has currently hurled 11 straight scoreless innings.
-Starting pitchers have posted a 2.81 ERA in the last 9 games.
-Myers 8-12 career record in April is his worst of any month, while his 4.00 ERA is his 3rd-lowest (May - 3.60; July - 3.99). He is winless in his last 5 April starts.

New York Yankees
-The Yankees have won 7 of their last 9 and 10 of their last 13 overall games, as they sit -0.5 games back of Tampa Bay.
-In yesterday's 7-1 victory over the Angels, New York matched their season-high with 14 hits, while SP Andy Pettitte is now tied for the AL lead in wins and ERA (1.29).
-New York is 8-3 against the AL West this season, while posting a 6-2 record during the day.
-The Yankees could become the first defending World Series champion to win its first 6 series of a season.

Colorado Rockies
-The Rockies have lost 6 of their last 10 games, but the club is 3-2 in their last 5 contests.
-Colorado is 2-2-1 in series play and a win today would give the team its first series win since defeating the Mets, April 13-15.
-The Rox are 1-2 in rubber matches (0-2 on the road; 1-0 at home).
-Troy Tulowtizki, Ian Stewart and Carlos Gonzalez were the only Rockies players who played in all 18 innings yesterday. The Rockies bullpen pitched 4 scoreless innings in Game 1 and was not used in Game 2.
-C Miguel Olivo is tied for the MLB-lead in home runs among catchers, along with Kurt Suzuki (4) and Jason Varitek (4). Olivo leads all MLB catchers in caught stealing (7-for-9) and has a 2.35 catchers' ERA.
-Rox relievers have allowed just 2HR, which is the fewest in baseball. The bullpen has the lowest ERA among National League clubs.
-SP Jorge De La Rosa has not allowed a hit to a left-handed batter this season (0-for-9).
-De La Rosa is making his 8th appearance (7th start) against the Marlins this afternoon. He struck out a career-high 12 Marlins on 5/9/09 at Florida, which is the most strikeouts in a single game by a Rockies left-handed pitcher.

Tampa Bay Rays
-Since the start of the recent road trip on April 12, the Rays are 10-2 and have outscored their opponent 85-32. Tampa Bay has pitched to a 2.57 ERA and has held its opponent to 3 or fewer runs in 9 of the 12 games.
-Today concludes a season-opening stretch for TB of playing 16 of their first 19 games against teams from the AL East (11-4).
-Last night marked the Rays 11th win since the last All-Star break when trailing after 7 innings (3rd this season) - the most in the majors over that span.
-Tampa Bay has scored 20 runs in the 8th inning this year, their most in any one frame this season.
-Went 14-4 against the Blue Jays last season, winning all 6 series against them.
-Lead the majors in steals with 21. The Rays were caught stealing in their first 3 attempts of the season, but have gone 21-for-24 since.

MLB Recap (NYY/LAA): -NYY SP Javier Vazquez threw 78 pitches in just 3 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs, 5 hits and 3 walks. The right-hander hasn't made it through the 6th innings in any of his 4 starts. -LAA 3B Brandon Wood's first 2 RBIs of the season came in his 51st at-bat.

MLB Recap (CHC/MIL): -Chicago SS Ryan Theriot finished the game 5 of 6 with 2 runs and 3 RBIs and is 14-of-25 in his last 5 games. -In this series, Milwaukee was outscored 25-4, after sweeping the Pirates and outscoring them 36-1 in the previous series. -The Cubs scored 9 times in the 1st 4 innings and had a season-high 18 hits.
