On paper Jered Weaver looks like a great start versus the struggling Indians offense but there is some cause for concern. A couple of notable Indians have hit for a lot of power against Weaver, which is always a risk in Weaver's case considering what a fly-ball pitcher he is. Indeed, Weaver has already allowed five home runs in 26 innings. He's still a strong option Monday, but doesn't have as much margin for error as you would think.
There's a very good reason Josh Beckett ranks behind Latos: he gets pounded by the Blue Jays. Four Jays -- and maybe the four best hitters on the team in Adam Lind, Aaron Hill, Vernon Wells and Travis Snider -- have an OPS north of 1.000 off of Beckett, and last season Beckett posted a 10.45 ERA in two starts versus the Jays. He allowed a whopping five home runs in 10 1/3 innings; are you convinced yet?
