Atlanta Brave manager Bobby Cox is on the right track or is he? He said Tuesday that St. Louis Cardinals superstar Albert Pujols ought to get $50 million a year in his next contract. Cox, who has announced his retirement effective at the end of the season, said Pujols is twice as good as any player in the league. Cox came up with the salary figure after Phillies star Ryan Howard signed an extension worth $25 million a year for five years. Pujols probably is twice as good as any other player in the league. But ticket prices already are high enough, and Major League Baseball's attendance is down this year. I don't see higher salaries and higher ticket prices changing that trend any time soon. I agree with Bobby that Pujols is a great player, however, paying him or anybody else $300,000 plus per game is insane.

My opinion and welcome yours.....................................

Until we as fans stop showing up at the ball parks and stop playing the high ticket prices this will continue, it time to say enough is enough. But it sad to say the fans will not stop coming imo.this is why the 1 and done kid has kill the gift of have the god gift to play a sport and get a free education in a top college.Boom 1 yr and in the nba or nfl league.the only way to stop this is to boycott the teams and not pay the pro team prices for tickets but again sad this will not happen.Money had kill sports imo from football, to basketball, to baseball to even nascar, guys these days play for the love of money and not the love of their given sport................love it or hate it that just the way it is these days in sports and it sucks ck

Not to say that ESPN offers much in the way of value, but they make the point in this video that Bobby was just being sarcastic - just throwing out a large figure to make his point that Pujols is better than Howard and that Howard isn't worth 25. I have to agree.

Thanks Grind........

Cards beat the Braves today 10-4 without Pujols. He was given the day off after playing every inning so far. Through 21 games, Albert is batting .333 with 7 homers, 6 doubles, 19 RBIs and a .417 OBP.

St. Louis is a good team and Pujols should have another strong year. You can bet Bobby would love to have Pujols with the Braves for his final year.
