My wife will usually order a water and I always get a coke when we are out at dinner...she has a habit of reaching over the table and drinking my coke.

This REALLY bothers me. I feel like I'm stealing from the food establishment. When I show i'm bothered she gets mad at me so I pretend it doesn't but she knows it does and she still does it. She says "I don't want a whole drink, i just want a few sips"

If they charge per drink, I don't care, but free refills make me feel unethical....what is your take?

I wouldn't feel unethical about it...they are raping you on the soft drink anyway. I just don't like others drinking out of my beverage - the wife included.

Al, i don't mind the wife drinking my drink (unless she polishes it off while I'm still thristy).....Just bothers me like we should order a 2nd drink.

Funny, if we order 2 diff drinks, I have no problem if we drink from each others....

OT - My wife will always order some kind of odd mixed drink when we go out dining with friends. I am weird to think that this is nasty?? We have had the same group of friends for many years now, but I still don't think she has caught on when I decline to sip her candy apple martini after 5-6 people have tried it.

at least you have someone to share a bottomless soft drink with
this broken heart is so heavy i can barely lift
my spirit above my knees and a good day is one i forget
been trying for a week to win a goddamn bet

oh, i wish i had someone to share a bottomless soft drink with
she wouldn't have to be hot she could even be a stiff
i don't expect much and i ask for even less
someone to share a bottomless drink would make me feel blessed

masturbating deep into the night
trying to concentrate on that beautiful sight
the way she looked at me through the drive thru window
made me wanna bury my sword in that bottomless hole

oh, how i wish i had someone to share a bottomless soft drink with

thank you

I agree with the OP. Much like my wife who takes a few grapes from the produce section every time we are in the grocery store. Drives me up the wall. What's next? Crack open a few beers and open a bag of chips?? Give me a f'n break.

Working in a restaurant, I don't get not buying a drink per person. At $2.29 they're cheap and free refills.

The worst part for me is my wife's family used to own a store back in the day....and if someone did this kind of stuff to them they'd be sooo pissed.

It only bothers me in places that seem to be scratching to stay alive. Here in SoCal, some of the taco shops we frequent seem to be struggling. I am always ordering two drinks, but the little lady pipes in and changes it to one sometimes. She catches me off guard and I an never quite sure if she really wants water or what. Invariably she will share with me and I get up and go buy the 2nd beverage. Must be a chick thing to try and save mula that way

If they don't like it they wont offer free re-fills.

It's so over-priced anyway. It's a rip-off if you only want 1 drink.

Over $2 for a soda.....

I order water then take Iced tea , lemonade, etc.., if it is self service.

Smart places give you a clear water cup.

I don't think they would call you out until you brought in the Brady Family and ordered one "Big Gulp" for the family and just kept refilling. Beyond that, Bag & Box machines are literally PENNIES per serving.

The restaurant would much prefer you order one soda and share it rather than order two waters

For me, most of the time water is just as good. The few times I might want something sweet, I'm just too paranoid that the server doesn't care about my sugar/caffeine preferences and I end up with exactly what I don't want
