Is it an pretty quick change in the line?

I figure gradual decline is steady action.

But the Reds line has went from +161, down to +147 at some places and just over the last 20 mins or so

When you get a number like that, do you ever pull some off?

I'm a little heavier than I like, but I really like this game here.

Anyone ever overbet only to take some back? Or maybe I am just overbetting and here is a situation where "scared money won't win" LOL

If a sharp group hits a line heavy enough, it moves instantly. You can bet most of the time a line moves, it's sharp action.

What causes it to take a hit then go back up?

For instance, REds was down to +147, now +152. Not a drastic jump, but still a jump

Simple answer

Reverse line movement or RLM

NBA for example if Dallas is +4.5 and 75% of bets coming in on the spurs but the line moves to Dallas +2, that's what the sharps would be hitting

don't understand why you don't get it, sharp money is big money that will move the line regardless of the % of bets coming in on a side

this was an example of my point. more bet are coming in on the astros yet the red's line dropped.. sharps are hitting the line with big money whether it's due to someone not in the lineup or an injury, etc

100% true.....certian groups bet you move the line even if you are buried on the other side(maybe not as much as other books but you still get off the number they are playing)

So, I guess these groups have multiple players at a book that hit the line all at once?

In my opinion with what i have seen over the years, it could start with just 1 sportsbook a group of sharps bets a certain play puts big money on it then that book drops the line and the other sportsbooks notice and quickly adjust. That's why if you go to a live odds page with all the numbers on the board you will notice the sportsbooks adjust at nearly the same time. some of the lines adjust across the board due to non sharp plays simply because more public bets are coming in on one side but there is no sharp money coming in or the lines change due to a late breaking injury but if you can get the percentages on all games you can easily see where the sharp money is coming in at,, it's not hard to do and it doesn't guarantee a winner but in the long run you will see profits if you stick to proper money management..

To add on to what i said and keep this converation of "sharps" going..

Sharps are true professional gamblers, they get information from their connections within the industry before the public ever even sees it coming , whether it be about an injury or a scratch from a lineup, or even just an oddsmaker error. They put the big money in play that forces the books to adjust..

Like i said before it's not hard at all to see what games the sharps are pounding, you just need to get the percentages. I like to use sportsbookspy, they have every percentage of every game you need. You can get part of it for free over at pregame, and just that part is good enough, but if you want everything you have to pay for it but it's worth it.

If you've been gambling for over 5 years, how do you not know this?

The percentage sites show the amount of tickets written not that amount of money taken, they are worthless for the most part. There is so called 'smart' money on each side of each game so figuring out where its at is also pointless and wont improve your bottom line. Using tonight for example I personally know very good handicappers were on the over and the under in the SA/Dallas game and also the same on the side for Portland/PHO.

Learn how to handicap and establish yourself as a very good handicapper and you wont have to worrk about this.

One other thing I wanted to point out which is very important is that public money will always have more impact on a line then sharp money.
