It's not only athletes. It's anyone who thinks their existence is more important than everyone else's. This could be athletes, celebrities or non-famous people.
I used to fly first and business class a lot, for work, because I had more frequent flier miles and amex points than you could ever use.
I saw regular people acting like jackasses. Thinking they could do whatever they want.
I saw flight crew having to threaten to throw Ananda Lewis (obscure MTV vjay from the 90's) off the plane because she wouldn't get off her cell phone after the plane left the gate.
It's just people with no respect for others, acting like the jackasses that they are.
Last time I was on a plane (leaving Jamaica) we got stuck on the runway due to a security breach for approximately four hours. The entire time some Jamiacan chick was yacking on her damn phone which literally rang off the hook. She kept talking until we literally left the runway...the only reason she got off was because the woman in front of her snatched the phone out of her hand and cut it off. Closest I think I have ever come to seeing two women fight to the death.
Allegheny County Police have issued a statement clarifying a report that Santonio Holmes was removed from a plane for being "disruptive" at Pittsburgh International Airport Thursday night.
"As previously reported, Santonio Holmes was NOT removed from any airplane (4/29/2010)," police said. "He was asked to remove his Ipod (at one point), in which he complied. There's no further information to report."

While it was still blown out of proportion, he still doesn't seem to be the brightest person:

Though the incident has been blown out of proportion, Holmes could have avoided trouble by turning off his Ipod upon request. Instead, he refused to follow instructions and "requested officers speak to him." Holmes won't be in any hot water with the league over the incident."
