Remember Affirmed? Yeah, neither do I, although I’ve read a bit about him. What about Big Brown…that guy I do remember…who cares you ask?
<o> </o>
This week a lot of people and over the next two days, a ton more will be talking horse racing, specifically the Kentucky Derby and the ever elusive, but always romantic chase for the Triple Crown.
<o> </o>
I love the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:City w:st="on">Derby</st1:City> and jump in with both feet, playing all the Kentucky Derby Contests I can find, betting a bunch of <st1lace w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Derby</st1:City></st1lace> props and outright bets, plus spend most of the day sipping a cold beverage getting ready to scream at the TV for 2 minutes.

Saturday, May 1st marks the date for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Check the Kentucky Derby Odds.
<o> </o>
And of course, it also marks the first stop for all potential Triple Crown Champions, a feat not accomplished since Affirmed took the <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Derby</st1lace></st1:City>, the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes in 1978, more than 30 years ago.
<o> </o>
Will this three decade dry spell end in 2010? Of course the answer to that is “unlikely”, but it could happen.
<o> </o>
The last horse to come close was Big Brown in 2008 who took both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, but fell short in the <st1lace w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Belmont</st1:City></st1lace>.
<o> </o>
Triple Crown Odds: Online sportsbooks have posted up odds on whether or not there will be a Triple Crown winner. If you think this is the year we finally see another one, a $100 wager will pay you back $500.00.
If you think there is no way it happens, you’ll be laying odds of -1000 to bet that prop offer.
<o> </o>
<st1:State w:st="on">Kentucky</st1:State> <st1lace w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Derby</st1:City></st1lace> Odds: There are also a ton of other props and betting options for the <st1:State w:st="on">Kentucky</st1:State> <st1:City w:st="on">Derby</st1:City>.
<o> </o>
For example:
<o> </o>
- the odds of this year’s Kentucky Derby winner having an even-numbered saddlecloth are -115 and the odds of an odd-numbered winner are -125.
<o> </o>
- The odds of the winners of the Preakness and Belmont Stakes having even or odd-numbered saddlecloths are -120.
<o> </o>
- Lookin at Lucky has drawn Post 1 for Saturday’s race and is the odds-on favorite at +300 at online sportsbook Sportsbetting.com (and at the book at Churchill Downs as well).
<o> </o>
However, the heavy betting favorites haven’t always justified their standing.
<o> </o>
Through the <st1lace w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Derby</st1:City></st1lace>’s 136 years, the odds-on has only won 52 times while failing to take first place the other 84 times.
<o> </o>
Lookin at Lucky is followed closely by Sidney’s Candy who is +550 to win for the Run for the Roses on Saturday, Sid’s Candy drew Post 20.
<o> </o>
Awesome Act (Post 16) and Devil May Care (Post 11) are also horses that are garnering some buzz and are listed at +800 and +900 respectively.
<o> </o>
Good luck with all your <st1:City w:st="on"><st1lace w:st="on">Derby</st1lace></st1:City> bets.
