Good question. I go back and forth on this. I say no. Years of abuse have taken its toll.

I saw this thread yesterday and that's what I was thinking.

Kind of was waiting for someone who knows their stuff to chime in about it.

He really started changing his style on the Diver Down album from guitars to keyboards and a radio-friendly style. Besides DL Roth's ego, Roth left because of the direction Eddie was taking the music.

Intense players also develop arthritis so they can't play anymore especially keyboard players

I think that is what happened to keith Emerson before he died

He can still play, or at least could in the last videos ive seen. Still musical, has timing, doesnt sound at all like say Dickey Betts did in the last 3 or 4 years where he was almost like he couldnt hear himself play. It was sad to watch. Eddie could play on a hit record if the opportunity came up i think.

Unfortunately, does it really matter. He can tour with VH and make millions of dollars, regardless if he's on his game or completely off his game.

that train has come and gone....any tour without any new music now would be nothing...he has spent years talking about 10 albums worth of material and has produced absolutely nothing...only thing successful he will ever do now is a tour with both sammy and dave...

he is scared to put out anything new because he knows it will not measure up to chickenfoot and would be embarrassed...anyone with half a brain could see this is true...if it were any different a new album would have followed last tour....bottom line he has nothing left...they say pride is the last thing to go and he is proof that it is true...

i love them and always will but this is the truth like it or not....

I've got a DVD bootleg of a show Van Halen did in 2007. As far as his playing goes, it didn't look to me like Eddie Van Halen had lost anything. I think the main thing he's lost is his creativity in writing good new songs. That tends to happen when half of your band splits up and you lose your band chemistry and songwriting partners.

Eddie had the World in his hands. Why turn your back on the best thing you had going for you?

Shit man....you took 10 steps backwards to make one step forward to this point.
