Nassau County is the worst place for drinking and driving.

His blood alcohol level was more than double the legal limit and he was found asleep in his car at a traffic light.

STUPID Hundreds of Thousands of dollars in salary gone....

$3M pretax.

Also, Welsh can now officially begin to sell Insurance.

That is where all washed up coaches wind up.

What a moron.

How about calling a CAB? He deserves to be fired for sheer stupidity.

How do you get fired for a DUI? It's not like he coached at BYU.

This is college bball and he hadn't even been on the job yet.

If he won 4 straight CAA titles, he would still be there, but thanks for stopping by Timmy.

He didn't hit anyone. Simple DUI is a misdemeanor, and nobody gets fired for it. He likely could have kept his job if he had not chosen to resign.

So you're saying it's cool that this ass clown is double the legal limit driving through a busy part of Nassau County?

My wife is in a car on that street with my daughters at least 3 times a week. Good riddance. One less chance for them to end up getting hit by a douchebag who can't control his drinking.

If this is his first offense, Pecora will get about 3K in fines, about 2 years probation, and 6 months suspended license.
He'll be driving again before Thanksgiving down the LIE, Hempstead Turnpike and the Sunrise Highway.

No, I didn't say it was cool. There are consequences for making mistakes, and he will have to pay those consequences. But DUI is a mistake that many have made, and they don't pay for it by losing their job.

Besides, 99% of people have driven over the limit before, they just didn't get caught. So be careful throwing stones.

This is the problem with arguments like this.

People want to argue that they would have been fired for choking their boss, like Lateral Sprewell did. Instead he was suspended.

Tim Welsh got fired because of his position, there are pros and cons to being an athlete/coach (yes, obviously more pros).

If Tim Welsh were not a CBB head coach, nobody would even know he got a DUI.

Sports operates in a different realm. I don't understand why people don't get that.

Tim Welsh represents a University and is the most prominent person at that university at the present time.

Who has ever gotten fired in the sports world for a DUI?

Gruden has been charged with one, and talked his way out of at least two others.

The thing that has always bothered me is that people say "it's just a DUI", as if it's no big deal. Caught or not, it's still a stupid, careless, selfish thing to do, and I would bet that not even close to 99% of the population have done it, as stated in an earlier post.

Before you ask, I never have. Believe me or not, but I never have. I'm not a big drinker to begin with and saw something early in life that made sure I would never do it.

DUI is three cans of beer during the second half of the Steeler - Bengal game.
First one at 4:45 pm with 7:13 to go in the 3rd.
Second one at 6:11 pm with 8:55 left in the fourth.
Last one at 7:01 pm, at the two minute warning.
7:09 pm, game over, time to go home.
Three harmless beers in 2 1/4 hours.
You are fine, speech is fine, everybody says you are fine, you get stopped for a routine check, you blow a .81, was that selfish?
