I know I'm in that crowd. I make a good enough living so I "guess" I can afford it but when I make a deposit I'm pretty sure I will lose it eventually before cashing it out.

I can pick more winners than loser (I track my plays) but as my bankroll goes up so does my wager size and if I lose I try to get it back. Eventually I will lose no matter how hot I am.

Anyone else in the same boat? I love the action though. Putting $100 on a game does nothing for me, I want a win or loss to matter. To some that's $10, $100, $1000 or more.

SUCKS! But man is it fun...

If I knew I would ulitmately lose....i'd do one of 3 things:

1) Quit gambling

2) lower my units to $1

3) Crazy plays (either +500 or more ML, 10 team parlays, etc.)

we all know losing is what happens to most but we have to think that we will be the exception to the rule or else we wouldn't do it.

Even when I bet slot machines, I know i'm gonna lose but I hold out hope that i hit the BIG one and that makes up for all my losses......foolish I know, but gotta dream big right?

overall I am way down. If I kept track of all my wagers not just sports (which I usually win a little in) I would probably stop. Table and slot losses I know out weight the sports winnings. But I still gamble, not sure why though. Probably border line addicted. :toast:

I'm guessing most winning gamblers don't post on the forums or if they do they keep it real quiet.

I can't imagine guys like jbragg and oldmanted losing money. They have a good record combined with discipline.

Why would you even do this if you are going to lose.

Would you buy a stock that you knew was going to lose you money?

I hear what your sayin, been there done that. I used to be in the hole then i learned from my mistakes now i'm pullin in money weekly.. I also hear what ur say about the whole 10 100 1000 thing, when i first started gambling on sports 9 years ago, i was betting 20 bucks a game and i felt the action the entire way, then it grew to 50, then 100, then 200, then 500, now i'm at an average of $1,000 a game. Thats what it now takes for me to "feel" an actual win.. But as long as i keep the money commin in i don't plan on stopping, if i go on a losing streak i'm able to take a weeks break but i don't bother to watch any sporting event for that week, need a clear head to stay focused.. losing will happen but it's about puttin more W's on the sheet than L's.. Don't chase either, chasing is a gamblers worst enemy..

Sportsbetting and Gambling are two different things...just my way of putting things into perspective..

Myself, like 90% of us here are lifetime losers in sportsbetting...(includes horses)

I have been a winning gambler ever since VIEJO taught me how to match-up on the first tee.

All I ever told him was to win the 9th and 18th holes...:toast:

By the way, I bet Railbird 5000 that you could beat him shooting free throws (100 of them) he says he is 76%...so far no response

He has no chance! I'll put up the $5,000, and give you a piece. Good Luck

Many good questions but this one stands out. And my answer is...

I HAVE NO IDEA! I guess I just love the action but when I make a deposit I pretty much think I will win but in the back of my mind I know I won't.

Someone else mentioned addiction, that's probably true in my case. I only lose what I can afford but that still sucks really.

Again, if I could stick to a say $500 a game wager I would easily be up this year but again as my bankroll gets higher so do my wagers.

Maybe next deposit I will try to do just that, semi-flat bet or at least have a limit. But then those games come along that simply CAN'T LOSE and that $500 wager goes up. Then it loses so I try to get that wager back on top of more to be up, then another can't lose wager comes along.

Broken record I know...:103631605

He has bet more horses in his lifetime than the total number of posts made by members of the RX...and I have had the pleasure of being at the track with him many times...they won't even let him in at Los Alimitos anymore..
