Source: Bradley left the team mid-game

The Mariners appear to have a serious problem. Milton Bradley left the team last night in the middle of the game. Bradley apparently left after striking out looking in the sixth inning with the bases loaded.

According to a source, Bradley yelled at the umpire from the bench before being told by Don Wakamatsu to cool it. Wakamatsu said that he would handle the umpire himself. Bradley responded that someone had to say something and that if Wak wouldn't, then he would.
According to the source, a few minutes later Bradley walked back over to the skipper and said, "I'm packing my stuff. I'm out of here." And then he left.

I saw the highlights, strike three was right down the middle of the plate

The 1st graders in Bradley's kid's school must take their share of the blame too. I bet they called little Milton racial names like in Chicago. Don't laugh, he actually used that excuse last year.

I saw it too. He did the same thing in Chicago, then the umps started squeezing the plate on him. He makes it much harder on himself than it needs to be.

The Bradley for Silva deal isn't looking as good these days. Having said that, I would still rather have him over Carlos. Silva was arguably the worst pitcher in Mariners history when he was here, and that's saying A LOT. I know Silva is having a moderate amount of success so far this year, but that should taper off at some point. And he's also pitching in the NL, which is a helluva lot easier than the AL.

And so it goes......

He is such a cancer. Why do organizations even bother to sign him? Blame the team that brings him b/c this guy has issues everywhere he has played. How many times can these stupid teams be fooled?

When he goes south, the Cubs can stash him in the bullpen. Bradley will poison the rest of the clubhouse like he did in Chicago.

Not really, he can just be cut. That's why I think it's a win-win for Seattle. We got rid of Silva and we don't have to put up with Bradley if we don't want to. We'll be out the money that we owe him, but so what, we were already out the money when we had Silva. Silva was never going to pitch another game here. He was Mr. 60-Day DL, even though he was never actually injured.

One other thing to note about Silva, which never gets mentioned, is that he isn't exactly a class-act either. This is a guy who threw other players under the bus in the media when he was with Seattle, despite the fact that he was easily the worst player on the team. He's nowhere near the cancer that Bradley is, but he's a bit of a punk himself.

Seattle needed some offense and wanted to get rid of Silva so they took a chance.Either way they were out the money.
Griffey was supposed to be almost a personal mentor to Bradley, guess that hasn't worked out so far.

Exactly. And you just touched on the much, much bigger issue for the M's. They wasted roster spots on washed-up guys like Griffey and Sweeney because they were supposed to help the "chemistry" in the clubhouse. Bradley is a distraction that can easily be dealt with, but their insistence on keeping guys on the roster because of their personality and not their talent is going to be their undoing this year.

The expectations in a weak division won't allow Seattle to cut him, unless they fall out early. The first move they make would be to trade C Lee, who sounds like another PITA.

Oh I agree that they probably WON'T cut him unless he goes completely ballistic, I was just saying they know they have that option. My guess is that he has "a talk" with the coach and GM and behaves himself for a little while, then has another blow up a month or two from now. And releasing him isn't out of the question -- the GM just said last night that they will probably be making moves very soon to make the team better, so they are willing to do whatever they have to do, IMO.

If the M's were smart they would let Lee pitch his balls off, then trade him right before the deadline. The odds of him resigning with the M's are slim and none.
