Former NBA All-Star Walker eyeing comeback

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP)—Former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker(notes) is eyeing an NBA comeback.
Louisville coach Rick Pitino says Walker will work out with several Cardinals over the next few weeks. Walker hasn’t played in the NBA since 2008 and has suffered legal and financial woes since stepping away from the game.

Walker agreed to pay three Las Vegas casinos over $900,000 to settle three bad check charges last fall.
Pitino, who coached Walker at Kentucky in the 1990s, said he also hopes Walker will talk to his players about the temptations that come with life as a professional.
Walker was a three-time all-star with the Boston Celtics and won a championship with the Miami Heat in 2006. He played briefly in Puerto Rico during the 2009-10 season.

I think he needs cash, he too is a mess, he is a slum lord here in Chicago with Buildings falling apart and he is not keeping them up, plus his gambling debts....He needs income some way and only know one way to get it.

Um, how's he going to make in back in the NBA when
he can't even make it in the Puerto Rican league?
He got cut around April 1st.

=========================================

Walker signed with the Puerto Rican team Mets de Guaynabo a few months ago, doing so simultaneously with former Chicago Bulls forward Marcus Fizer. Fizer has played in Puerto Rico twice before, so this is not new for him, but it was Antoine's first time. And like most first times, it ended disastrously and prematurely.

In 8 games for the team, with only 1 start, Walker averaged 28.8 minutes, 12.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Those are not bad numbers, but Antoine shot only 41% from the field, 22% from 3 and 52% from the foul line, his 99 total points coming on 94 total field goal attempts. More importantly, those numbers are relative to expectation, and by being the biggest name (and most expensive player) in the whole of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional, expectations for Walkah were exceedingly high.

His performances were not.

Yeah sadly I don't think he has much of a shot... He never really had a great game for the NBA, and he looked AWFUL the bit he played for the T'Wolves in what I believe was his last stint in the league
