I have been smoking for 10 years and have decided to try and quit cold turkey. I have now gone 25 hours without one but the cravings are really starting to kick in now. Do any of you have any advice to help me out, if so thank you. I was reading about what the body goes through when you quit like I'm doing, their are a lot of symptoms when quiting. Here are a few that I read, acid indigestion, gas, diarrhea, constipation, nausea, sinus problems, dizziness, bloating, nightmares, bleeding gums and depression. Did any of you experience any of those symptoms? I thought you were supposed to feel better once you quit.

I would say keep busy happily, stay out of stressful situations.Avoid people that might make you upset and spend time with those that will keep you calm and happy.Think about the reasons that you are quitting and stay strong.Maybe just lay down ,relax and meditate when you are having a strong craving or do some push ups,jog around the block,or treat yourself to some healthy snacks or juice with the $ that you would normally spend on Cigs.Basically just replace it with something positive. The main thing is you have to really want it and be ready to do it for the right reasons.

I am trying to quit smoking myself. I bought the vapor cigarette and started on that. I started taking hits off that vapor cigarette the day before yesterday to get used to inhaling vapor. Inhaling vapor makes you cough a lot at first until your body gets used it. Sorta like when you first started smoking cigarettes you coughed all of the time. So what I have done was alternate my smoke breaks with a real cigarette and a vapor cigarette to cut my marlboro intake in half. I am getting more and more used to the vapor now. I hope within a week I will be completely off of cigarettes.

With that said I can't imagine a substitute for a cigarette during my morning coffee, after a hearty meal and while I am drinking hard liquor. Maybe a nice non-inhlaing cigar could work for my liquor though.

nothing wrong with getting the low level patch..it works..

Best thing is to take 5 singles and put the money each day in a glass jar (if you smoked 2 packs $10) At the end of two months buy yourself a nice gift...good luck man..

I quit after smoking for over 30 years. It was tough. Buy lots of strong flavor gum and get an empty pen so that you can pretend to smoke through it. Walk alot and get ready to be tested. Its months of hell but worth it in the end.

The craving will go away even if you dont give in.

Just keep telling yourself that if I give in I got all this to go through again.

Gets easier everyday but sometimes you get real strong urges but again it goes away.

Smokes just went up a dollar a pack here in Wa. as part of a sin tax.

I looked today while at the store and they were $8.57 a pack with the tax well over nine dollars.

Try to stay as busy as possible to keep your mind off cigs. Start working out till you drop to release the tension.

If nothing works and you're going to have a cig, vist a cancer home. You'll never touch another cig again.

Good Luck!!

Quitting cold turkey is foolish. You don't go from 0 cigs to 20-30/day when you start, you slowly build up. You've got to quit the same way. Figure out how many cigs per day you smoke then chop one or two/day off every week. If you smoke 20/day, the first week space them out so you only smoke 18 or 19 a day and gradually decline. It worked the first time I tried; went from a pack a day to nothing in about 2.5 months.

Your body will need some sort of nicotine whether it be a patch, or lozenger which worked great for me. You also have to figure out triggers just like any addict would. If coffee is your trigger than you have to stop that and replace it with something else. If it's drinking well you can't drink for a while. Smoking will always be with you though. The important thing is to keep it out of your normal lifestyle. If you take up some sort of physical activity like karate, then that will help you kick it cuz the results of smoking will hurt you in karate class.

I quit smoking & drinking the same day about 25 years ago.I quit going to bars so as not to be around people that smoked & also the smoking & drinking go hand in hand. Try to stay away from people that smoke, also keep reminding yourself how bad cigs are from you. I kept reminding myself of ones that died/ suffered from cancer & other illnesses caused by cigs, but most of all you have got to want to quit. Have the willpower & you will quit,gl.

Try nicotine gum. The withdrawal is from the effects of nicotine. Keep up the strong work

I heard about that vapor cig on the radio, does it really work? How does it work?
