Not paper routes or cutting grass. But what was your first job you held?

Mine, I was 13 helping my cousin in his bakery, actually out of his house. 2 years later we moved to the location we are now.

22 years later, I own it<><>

Detassling corn at age 14. It was hot, sweaty, itchy, and the 5am wakeup call came early. 28 straight days without a break, but we got a big bonus if we made it every day for that month.

The next summer I started umpiring baseball games. Much better. Never did the fast food gig.

14 washing dishes at an italian restuarant which I still have to go to when I go back home, fun times

Supermarket cashier at a union store, very good pay for a HS kid....doubletime on Sundays and Holidays, etc. Couldn't start there until age 16.

Sorting empty bottles that people brought into the corner
grocery for 5 cent refund when Vermont first enacted the
bottle refund law.

~15 yrs old

Got paid cash under the table, I think $1.25/hr

I worked in a little bunker loading a machine that shot out clay pigeons for skeet shooters. I guess I was around 15 at the time. All I remember from it was when the loader came around you better load the clay piegeons fast or you could lose a hand.

fish market at legal seafoods cutting fish for the retail store. slung a ton of weed to the cooks and waitresses. good money for a 14 year old.

something like $ 1.78.

I think my goal was to work 20 hrs to net $ 30

I used my first paycheck to buy a new baseball glove and bat (Rico Carty?)

man, that's going back in time
