He's also allowed to do a few more baseball activities. Progress has been slow and frustrating for the 33-year-old Beltran, but he's slowly making his way toward live action. A mid-June return to the big leagues sounds about right. At that point, the Mets will have to decide what to do with Gary Matthews Jr. The smart move, of course, would be to cut him loose.
