I'm a big guy, and need to lose some lbs (I'm ~280 at 5'11'') and rowing seems like a simple exercise that I can do in front of the tv in the morning, low impact, and works a bunch of muscle groups. ordered a Concept2 model D on amazon, which is supposedly a solid rower, and should get it on thursday.

anyone ever use a rower as a primary form of exercise? what was your experience like? what type of regiment did you use?

haha

I never want to be a small guy, and i'll never get down to 180 (which I think is the ideal weight for someone my height) but I'd like to get down to 210-220.

looking fwd to some responses here. I have thought about that same rower for a long time but nvr pulled the trigger. 6'7 285lbs here. my obstacle is still healing a broken hip - still can't put my full weight on that leg yet. but i have great range of motion, so a rower might be ideal.
