EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)

New Jersey's bid to host the 2014 Super Bowl is signed, sealed and about to be delivered.

The owners of the New York Jets and New York Giants on Wednesday signed the official bid that will be sent to all 32 NFL owners. The owners will vote May 25 on whether East Rutherford, Miami or Tampa will be the host.

The theme of the new Meadowlands Stadium's bid is "Make Some History.'' If the stadium gets the game, it would be the first Super Bowl to be held in a cold-weather locale.

In December, the NFL told the Giants and Jets they could bid on the Super Bowl despite a requirement that host stadiums have a minimum temperature of 50 degrees or roofs.

The NFL is stupid.

Really should move the Super Bowl around and allow everyteam to enjoy it once every 32 years.

If not, play the game in San Diego and forget about it.

Absolutely not.

If the NFL was realistic they would partner with Las Vegas and build a state of the art stadium and host the SB in Vegas every year. Plenty of hotel rooms, all of the amenities to keep the masses happy and lets face it, without gambling, football is pretty fucking boring. The league would never allow it becasue gambling is evil and each team wants that revenue for their stadium and city.

Since Vegas is out of the question the SB shoul be rotated between SD, AZ and Miami.

The bottom line is they allow them to play the season in cold weather but will not allow them to host a Super Bowl?? Kind of seems unfair to me. Football is a cold weather sport. No??

Why should only those 3 cities get the SB?

Why can't Houston/Dallas/New Orleans have it. 2 of the 3 have much, much better stadiums.

They'll never do it, but I love the idea of rotating so that every team gets a chance to host the superbowl. Personally, I'd love to see a super bowl w/bad weather.

Cold Super Bowl

First of all it is not always that cold in the winter in the NYC, NJ area. Some winters hardly go below freezing but a few times. Second of all there has to be enough clout (pull) in the area to get the Super Bowl here, especially now with the new stadium. Third of all it would be a huge media event on top of what it is already. WTFU NFL top brass people, put the game where football has its origins. I think it will happen.

Everyone I know who went to the SB in Detroit a few years ago said it was miserable (the cold weather). There is big money around the superbowl you got to keep the masses happy. The majority of people that go to these cities for SB weekend... don't actually go to the SB.

Went to see NE in the one in Jacksonville. That city had no business holding a SB.

Still think Vegas would be a nirvana to host the SB.

Billion dollar industry trumps cold weather sport any time

New York is a good choice; unless there is an indoor stadium, cannot imagine any other northern city coming close to maximizing profits

Las Vegas should be every other years, with the years in between rotated among different cities

Detroit hosted the Super Bowl a few years ago..>>not well received..

I don't think the location of the SB should be based on climate, but I do think there are places it probably should not be held. NE is a good example, as the stadium is a 35min drive outside of the city (and that's with no traffic) and there's really nothing around the stadium that's worth doing. i imagine there are other places that face this issue.

that's right! was trying to think of that one for my post. All I remember is *everyone* (players, media, and fans) bitching about how lame it was.
