i think im with the cubs on this, even tho pitt swept em this year. But pitt is on a slide of late and i dont see them coming out of it against this pitcher who is somewhat ok, and done somewhat ok vs pit in 3 career games

So... Gorzelanny struck out 19 in last two games, that is money in the bank! No idea how long it will last, but this guy has finally figured it out. He was a top prospect until PIT pitched him into failure, change to CHI working but at the same time, he goes into the sixth most games, strikes out a ton of guys, doesn't give up a lot of runs. And his teammates are killing him.

I do take trends heavily into my placement of wagers. I feel with the downslide of the pirates, not being the same team the cubs faced this year in Pitt. The last many games have been a mighty struggle for the pirates to do anything. and going against a guy who is a strike out pitcher, and has good command, from the minor league up to the majors - I'll bank on the cubs here.

Only thing I think about when making this decision, it's still the cubs.. and the cubs have been streaky this year. Recent signs are they are coming back around after a brief bump in the road they ran into (which screwed up my fantasy baseball because i have them as my pitching team on 2 or 3 of the 5 fantasy teams i have)

Good thread. I will probably take the cubs too in some sort of parlay with the bruins or maybe the rays rather than the runline but I don't feeel confident at all with the cubs. I disagree absolutely with the sentiment that the cubs have come around at all. This is a very average baseball team

the pirates are worse though and the cubs are at home and burres had a 14 era last year.

14 earned runs a game! Though he handled the cubs last week but so have alot of pitchers

Is burres finally ready for the majors or was his performance against the cubs an anomaly should be the question. The pirates pen should come into play for any punter on this game.

Im thinking it was a fluke vs the cubs last time out. I know the cubs are a very average team, but when they want to hit, they seem to come around and swing for the fences. When they dont want to, they fall off the planet with a nose dive. I just dont get it. No consistency with this team.

I was just asking because it seems like pitt does well against a lefty and chicago has struggled in gorzalannys last few starts, but i think both teams are trash. so i will be watching this from the side line. best of luck to you
