First post of the baseball year. I will play quite a few dogs and most likely will never play a favorite over 160. Here it goes...

1* - Pittsburgh +180 over Cubs

Cubs shouldn't be -200 against anyone right now. They are just a .500 team at home and send a pretty unproven Gorzellany to the mound (even though I do like him). I look for both offenses to struggle a bit and hopefully Meek and Dotel can hold it down at the end of the game. Bit of a longshot, but I like the number.

1* - Texas +110 over Toronto

I guess the biggest question is which Rich Harden will show up? Harden can be one of the best in the game when he is on and he has pitched well over his last couple of starts. The Jays are off to a good start, but are 3 games under .500 at home this season and send a pretty erratic Brett Cecil to the mound. Texas has Kinsler back and Hamilton and Vlad are both pretty hot right now. I think this offense gives Cecil fits.

1* - Washington +200 over Colorado

Ubaldo Jiminez has been awesome and everyone knows he threw a no-hitter, but he a bit overpriced in this one. Livan Hernandez (4-1, 1.04 ERA) has been pretty impressive in his own right and getting a +200 price here seems like a whole lot of value. The Nats are playing good ball, having rolled last night against this same Rockies team. Colorado is under .500 and there bullpen is an absolute disaster. Helton and Tulo are struggling in the middle of the lineup, while Zimmerman and Dunn are starting to heat up. Good value here whether or not it hits.

1* - Kansas City +116 over Chicago

Is it just me or is Mark Buehrle one of the most overrated pitchers in the game? His ERA is almost 5 and yet he is still favored on the road all the time. I know the Royals are bad, but this will be the first game for manager Ned Yost and although Meche has been awful, he has good stuff and could turn it around at any time. Both teams are a bit of a mess right now, but it seems like a good spot for the Royals to get on track.

Good luck to everyone today

Good start

2-1 (+1.96 Units)

*Harden couldn't hold an 8-3 lead. Awesome!
