I gotta love these guys ....and the profit margin, buy for $100, sell for $350, is probably average markup, on odd stuff. I have never seen them admit to a loss.

they are likely thieves.....bring your Gold there= No

They want to buy stuff for no more than 30% of what they can sell it for, preferably 5 %., or less.....

I haven't watched the Show yet, but I hear it's good.

They make a Ton off of this stuff.

more odder stuff , to make it interesting, on History Chanel (#46 for me)

scrap gold, silver coinage type of stuff is ordinary for sale, degenerate gambler construction workers pawn their tools all the time, like $30 for Rotten Raymond's spare worm drive Skilsaw, $20 is more like it.... but ray has pawned it like 50 times, you might even go $40, if he asks for it, since you've made like $500 of this tool lifetime, and almost feel bad about it.

Nope

I've never caught a re-run, yet...makes it cool, for that ! I've seen maybe 30 episodes of Pawnstars, no reruns, but they steal a lot of stuff, certainly not the place to sell defined value stuff like scrap Gold, maybe something like a Fucked up glider plane, your tenant left you in Lieu of rent....if you get like 5k for it, from 2k owed, OK....and these thieves sell it for 15k....KKKK/

American Pickers is OK too

They don't even generally want stuff, if they cant sell it for double or more in a week.

25% on tools, if your lucky, and try to sell it for like 200% of new price at Home Depot, on sale.

like a standard $100 tool on sale at HD, Pawners might give you $25, on a good day, it;s like $150 out of pawn, but $79 new at HD. I can never get it for like a reasonable like $55 from the 3 baller.

Vegas Pawnbrokers are Assholes, in general.

I'll try to buy something like a particular type of saw ( Milwaukee recipro for example), say on sale for $89 NEW, Pawner loaned like $20 on it, wants $100 for it used, $40- 50( tops), we can talk.

Asshole pawnbroker is unlikely to go under $85 for it used, even if I show him advertisement for $89 NEW, and he has $20 into it, somewhere around $45-50 is fair, in this case, IMO, $55-60 at most.

I can't deal with these pricks, he loaned like $20-25 on the tool. it's $89 new on sale, maybe $79, even !

About $55 is fucking fair, if mint !

You can't totally blame the pawn guys though. They are trying to make as much money as they can.The sellers know what the deal is,they are going for the easy/quick sell instead of going out and finding a buyer that will give them the maximum or close to maximum for it.I do feel bad for some of the people sometimes though when they really get worked over.

Yeah, you won't get max value, they really piss me off on the buy end though. i know you got it for $20 , It's NEW at HD for $69, your $80 used is crazy, A fair offer of like $45, and they say no way,its worth $95. go fuck yourself, then !

Yea,I know what you are saying about buying from them.I think it really depends on the item though.I have found it possible to find some really great deals in pawnshops on certain items while on other items I've found it is usually just better to get a new one from a store.
And like you say, sometimes they want more for a used one than the new ones cost.
I don't remember all the details but I was in a pawnshop a few years back and noticed an ipod for more than what the new ones cost at the store.Apparently what happened was ,the new ones(of that model came out)making the old ones go down a lot in value and whoever was in charge at the pawnshop over looked that.I told the lady about it she said"oh!"and said she was gonna change the price. The moral of that story:Technology moves at a rapid rate these days,be patient and you'll save some doe and beware of what you are buying.
There are certain items worth buying from those places and certain items that are not,IMO.

You can't blame the junior buyer ( like your son), if the kid makes a bad purchase, but even a bad buy( paying "too much" ) usually is a profit.

They give away too much info, Old man bought something for like 3k, dude negoitated, asked for some like Elvis statues at about $600, Old man threw it in, Shit....I only paid $100 for it !, No Biggie !

Buy for $100, sell for $600

They are thieves, IMO !

I may call Rick, and axe what he pays per gram for 14k gold or silver coin.

It won't be good ( competitive , at a high level), I'm sure

A fucked up helicopter....I'll give him some room, no room on scrap gold, or silver dollars

I do like the show though, you can learn some things as well as get a few good laughs. The Old Man and Chum are my favorites.Watching them all go at it like they often do it is entertaining as well.

The business of pawning is buying/loaning money on other people's Shit, sometimes they buy it back and pay good interest.

Rarely does a wise pawnbroker get taken....you just don't buy dumb shit, and if you do, you steal it it for 5% of what it is worth, and still probably break even !

It's a no lose deal, really ! like a crooked auto mechanic and an 85 year old granny.

I'm gonna call these thieves on the phone, see what they pay for for 14k or silve75%r coin, unlikely to end well, 75% being OK. 75% is almost theft.
