Now that David Ortiz is hitting again, Lowell doesn't see a role for himself with the team. Even when Ortiz was slumping, Lowell was primarily in the lineup against left-handers, so he's only amassed 57 at-bats over the season's first 39 games. Lowell would certainly help any number of teams, but it would be difficult for the Red Sox to get fair value or trade him without eating a large portion of his remaining contract.
