I use a method while shopping to cut down on spontaneous spending. If I'm out shopping and see something that I hadn't planned on buying but I want it or think I need it,I will make a note of it,leave it at the store then think it over for 24hrs.If I still think I need it or want it after 24hrs then I'll go back and get it.
It has worked well for me and saves me a lot of money that I would have spent before I started using this approach.

I use a longer period of time for more expensive items.

I don't save money. I believe in living to excess. Instead I learn of ways to make more money so I don't have to do without.

absolutely nothing, some might find that weird

I remember back in the day when we would not order any beverages, appetizers or deserts when we dined out, now that saves a lot of money on your dinner tab.

Go out to dinner now and the kids need to bring a friend and everybody is over age 21, that can suck. Especially in fucking Manhattan.
