I thought this team has been one of the more overrated teams over the past decade.

Even when they won 116 games or whatever they won (about 8 years ago). Guys like Mike Camerson were getting clutch hits, but this is team that has had a bunch of guys that can't make constant contact.

Richie Sexson was their big signing a couple years ago. They bring in Bradley (never healthy and never more than 77 RBIs) and Griffey, if the name wasn't Griffey wouldn't even be on the roster. They over pay Erik Bedard and have no idea how to put a team together.

Worst part is, they have had arguably the 2nd best player of the decade in Ichiro, but doesn't matter when you play with 7 or 8 minor leaguers. They overpaid for Beltre.

This team has no clue what Free Agency is about. If they don't move Cliff Lee, they lose him.

Bigten, you have some good points and some I think you're a bit off base.

When the M's signed Sexson and Beltre everyone thought they were going to be great signings, it's easy to look at contracts after the fact and call them stupid. If either one put up close to their previous numbers then they would've been just fine. Problem is, right handed power hitters just do not produce playing at Safeco 81 games a season. Beltre meant a lot more to the M's than his offense, he's one of the premier defensive guys and is a guy that plays his ass off every game and a good locker room guy. He is a good player, he just wasn't worthy of the big contract he received. Regardless, he was still a fan favorite in Seattle.

In regards to Bradley, it's really a no lose situation. They gave up Carlos Silva and his ridiculous contract who was never going to start another game for the M's for a chance for Bradley to return to his 2008 form. I still haven't written him off, if he gets his head on straight he will be just fine and there's no better place for him to do that than Seattle.

Erik Bedard, when you say over pay do you mean contract-wise or what they gave up for him? If you mean by the trade then yeah, it was a stupid trade. Most of these problems really boil down to arguably the worst GM of all time in Bill Bavasi. He's the one that signed Beltre and Sexson and he's the "brain" behind the Bedard trade and also has made several dumb moves unloading prospects for basically nothing. M's could sure use Shin Soo Choo or Asdrubal Cabrera right about now, while they have nothing to show for either of those trades.

As for Cliff Lee, even if M's don't move him (which will likely not be the case) they will still get a 1st round pick for him if he ends up signing elsewhere.

Beltre had one good year (48 homers, never hit more than 35 before that). Richie Sexson was protected in the Cleveland Lineup and in Milwaukee he had some help, but he is not really different from a Russell Branyan.

That is why I think the Ryan Howard signing is terrible. Power Hitters who hit 35-50 HRs but SO nearly 200 times a year are not worth the money imo. Howard at least proven himself to be consistent unlike Beltre and Sexson. I didn't post it here, but I said from the beginning that the Sexson and Beltre deals were bad. Similiar to KC paying Gil Meche $55M.

That is the problem with Bradley, if, if, if. NO, he is a cancer and the sooner teams realize it the better of they will be. He is an above average talent with slightly better than Average performance.

Look at the numbers, he doesn't stay healthy and has never driven in 80 runs. As Bill Parcells says "you are what your record is" and that is Bradley. He is what the numbers are, average.

The Howard contract is more than just his numbers, he's a household name and Phillies pretty much had to resign him. Yeah I think the contract is ridiculous for him as well, but he is always going to have protection so it should work out OK. He also seems to be cutting down on the strikeouts some too.

I agree with Bradley, my point was Silva was complete garbage for the M's so might as well trade for some slightly more useful garbage since the M's have no offense. It's sad to say, but Bradley is one of the M's better hitters.

Regarding Howard, he's worth the money, fans pay money to see him smash taters, fans buy his uni, and he's good for the clubhouse.

Regarding the Mariner lineup, I like Fister tonight, strong.
Fister's numbers thus far this season are stellar, 3 and 1 with a buck 72 ERA, a ratio of 0.94, those are Carpenter numbers.

This current Blue Jay line up is 5 for 21 against Fister, take away that mistake he made to Hill (no big sin) and he's damn near perfect.

Cecil scares nobody, and factor in that killer coast to coast 6 hour flight Toronto just made, that just makes me like Seatle more at a reasonable 6.5:5 price at home.
