Do you remember Tim Donaghy, a "one-time inconspicuous NBA referee who turned out to have a lot more in his back pocket than just a whistle"?
Have you ever wondered if "that call" that cost your bet to go sour was fixed? I have. And guys like this DO EXIST. I was reading an article in SBRforum about this guy, Donaghy was convicted in a sports betting scandal when an FBI investigation determined that he was trying to use his power to control the point spread in basketball games. And guess what. I bet that probably I was going the other way. Now what if this is also happening in the NFL. I have seen rulings that sometimes let me thinking on a "what if". I don't know how you feel about this whole thing but for me it reminds me of keeping special attention on how a referee calls a play from now on.

NBA refs are the dirtiest ones out there imo.

Yeah but just imagine this happening on football. I have seen some calls that if called differently would have changed the outcome of a game completely.

Donagahy book a must read for serious bettors, lots of good info about refs. He is much more honest than Stern.

I agree with you on Stern, the way he covers up for the officials is disgraceful.

I think the Donaghy situation has scared the refs in to calling the games better.

With the way the economy is, no one wants to lose their job.

The playoff games have been called pretty well so far, IMO.

He was the only one they were able to actually have evidence on.

The league is a farce.

Has the league said anything about that official who threw the ball at a fan in the playoff game the other night?

I couldn't disagree more RF. The refs in the NBA hold grudges against certain players and their egos get in the way too many times. Even Jef Van Gundy stated on tv the other night how bad the officiating was in the game he was calling.

Donaghy said on Fox radio the other day that he felt NBA games were 85% legitimate competition and 15% "show."
