(CNN) -- Cyclist Floyd Landis has admitted using performance-enhancing drugs for most of his career after disputing for years a positive doping test result that led to his suspension from the sport, two news organizations reported Thursday.
ESPN.com reported that Landis said in an interview he consistently used the red blood cell booster erythropoietin, commonly known as EPO, along with testosterone and the human growth hormone and that he received frequent blood transfusions.
He also used female hormones and, once, insulin, ESPN.com reported. He is coming forward because years of deceit have taken a toll on him, the site quoted him as saying.
Landis sent e-mails to cycling and anti-doping officials recently that implicate dozens of other athletes in such activities, ESPN.com and The Wall Street Journal reported Thursday.
The Wall Street Journal reported it had seen three of the e-mails, dated between April 30 and May 6, and that officials with USA Cycling and the International Cycling Union were copied on them.
Three people who have seen the e-mails and spoken with Landis about them confirmed their authenticity, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Cycling has always been a dirty sport, just like track and field. Hell, remember the East German women swimmers in the 70's?

The NFL is another league were steroids were rampantly used before testing began, and obviousy there are some who still get caught.

Greg Lemond has been asking this question for years. As far as Bonds, you'll never get an admission from him. He used the cream and the clear but thought it was flaxseed oil or some shit like that.

Can we throw in the Red Sox teams of the 2000's as well?

If anyone among baseball players, management, media or fans cared, why did was there such a long until he was ever tested for them? And if journalists and law enforcement do a better job at finding drug users, why would any player not use them?

Wall Street Journal says the Yankees are the #1 in steroid use.

To be sure, players are ultimately responsible for their own behavior, not teams. The Journal's overall tally contains 124 accused players in all of Major League Baseball who have, among them, played for every franchise. Overall, the Yankees had 30 current or former players cited, including Alex Rodriguez. That's three more than the Rangers, who were second. A spokesman for the Yankees declined to comment.

My comment was just a little jab at FZ knowing he's a Red Sox fan. I agree, all the teams have to be included.

I have thought for a long time now Lance Arm cycles uses performance enhancement during the off season. When they are reaching high climate during the tour de France, his stamina is ungodly. That's always when he pulled away.

So many athletes dope, it's ridiculous. Some are better at covering it than others.
