This week the video game Pac Man is 30 years old. I can remember the first time I saw one in a convenience store after spring high school football practice. We kept putting our quarters in the machine and kept ramming the Pac Man into the ghosts trying to score points. About $3 later, we finally figured out you had to eat the Power Pill first and then gobble the ghosts. Endless hours of Whacka, Whakca, Whacka and Woo, Woo, Woo. Did you ever get a high score on Pac Man? I never did, but I did think it was a pretty cool video game. Happy Birthday Pac Man. Keep On Chomping.

Used to love the Apple ][ version too... "taxman"

I actually remember that. Was a lot of fun. They had a galaxian rip off too I think that was fun.

Pacman was extremely addictive. They have championship Pacman on XBOX live that's a lot of fun too.

Yeah I used to see the sit down Ms. Pacman machines in like Pizza Places and Arcades in the mall. I was alot better with Ms.Pacman than Pac Man. The fruit included cherries, apples, bananas, and oranges. If you ever got to the oranges, seems like you were in the points then. I can't remember the names of the ghosts though. Blinky was one name I think.

Funk,

The one I had was called Alien Rain, I think I also had Alien Rain 2 also...

Is this the one you had?

Fresh Batch of Aliens

It's raining Aliens..

Name: Alien Rain
Programmer: Tony Suzuki
Publisher: Star Craft (Japan) Brøderbund (USA)
Year: 1981
Description:Description: Alien Rain is 2d space shooter which closely resembles Galaxian from the arcade. The premis of the game is simple. The player is given 3 ships in which to do battle against a barrage of dive bombing aliens. The aliens when shot are worth different points depending on thier color. One special alien of which there are two in the top most row of aliens is worth varing amounts of points depending on where the player shoots them.

Of all the Galaxian clones that were avaialbe for the Apple ][ system Alien Rain was the best and closest to the original.

Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Right Turn Clyde were the name of the ghosts. I think somebody even came out with a song about Pac Man. When the Atari Home Version came out, it had to be one of the biggest selling things to hit that market in a long time. I just remember the Atari version was not that good at all.

Anyone remember the pacman saturday morning cartoon and the cereal?

The cartoon wasn't that bad. The cereal was kind of a lucky charms rip off.

Pac man ... Hmm... Its was a good few years of Space Invaders and Asteroids before Pac Man came out. Personally, I was about "Defender". I could get games going on there where people would gather around to see what the hell I was doin.
