Ruckus was a good word. It was used to try and explain a undefined noise. Teenagers constantly talking and misbehaving walking down the street could qualify as a ruckus. Hootenanny was also good. It was defined as a party or social gathering.

You could also add dapper to dainty. You never hear dapper anymore and the only recollection I have of it was when George Clooney used Dapper Dan Hair Gel in Oh Brother Where Art Thou. If a man is a good dresser and neat in appearance, Dapper is a great word.

2 Words Used Inappropriately Or Simply Wrong

"Anymore"! The other one you hear all the time and is misused is, saying "he had the ability", instead of "the opportunity"!:think2:

When I was in grade school, the way to say that something
was awesome was "decent."

I'm not sure if it was a regional thing, but it was prevalent for
many years as i was growing up. Anything cool was "decent."
