I still love the Star Wars origional trilogy as my favorite movies of all time... Brings back alot of great memories...I wish I still had the action figures in their original packaging... I was like 5 when it came out and I remember it being in theaters for like a year or something...

Ya. So many good scenes in that movie. I think I was about 7 or 8. Saw it in the theatre with mom and dad.

AT- AT walker, tauntaun, snow speeder, luke with his hand choped, Han Solo frozen,
Lando being the traitor, "I am your father" and all kinds of crazy shit.

I can say something that probably 99% of the other on here can't, and that is i have NEVER seen any star Wars movie....ever

I have maybe seen a scene here or there, but never more that 2 minutes or something....I mean i know who some of the characters are, i know the robot is c3po, and i know that Darth Vader ended up being the guy's dad at some point.....I remmeber the phrase Luke, I am your father...but i have no idea what the movies are about, except that Princess Lea and Luke Skywalker were in space....

I saw Star Wars in the theater as a kid. I think I loved it from what .I remember. Damnedest thing though... I never saw any of the sequels. I am pretty sure I was going to at some point... but here it is .. 30 years later and I haven't. This is like the longest procrastination ever.

Nerd Nation agrees that The Empire Strikes Back was far and away the best of all the Star Wars movies.

The Empire Strikes Back was also the only Star Wars movie not directed by George Lucas.

Coincidence? I think not.

not sure.....we just didnt become fans, i guess....and its not the genre, i mean i have seen every star trek movie, loved Close encounters, i enjoy sci-fi, i just never got into these movies, and therefore have just never watched them.....the closest i came to seeing star wars is probably seeing "Space Balls" with Mel Brooks...

well i would certainly recommend Star Trek movies......one of the few franchises where the sequel was definitely BETTER than the original.......Star Trek II : Wrath of Khan, to me is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made, and the best of the franchise, followed by Star Trek IV......the new "reincarnation" of the franchise, was also VERY good.....but it helps to have seen the originals before seeing it, even though its a prequel

Not even curious? After adjusted for inflation, it is the #2 grossing movie of all time.

Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi are both in the top 15.

most definitely curious now...have always seen all the others praise of this but never thought to explore it any further...but i will now...truth be told i spent that time in my life working(got my work permit at age 13) then the 80's came and i was still working and just hanging out...then 90's came and the gambling related issues came and i found myself doing nothing but taking bets and watching ballgames until 2 in the morning...then waking up next day only to start over with what had just been completed 10 hours ago..

if you or anyone saw the list of movies i have watched on netflix since i joined in dec. you would laugh your ass off...it is filled with movies from the 80's and 90's that i had just discovered...really embarrassing that an entire decade of my life was dedicated to nothing more than sports, live concerts and whores...i guess it would not have been as bad if it had not been my 30's which is the time when you are supposed to settle down etc...do i regret it? no not really, but financially yes...and the inability to grow up? yes in a way...

Actually Richard Marquand directed Return of the Jedi.

I was not aware of that. Too bad it wasn't Irvin Kershner. It would have been pretty good were it not for all the muppets.

Buster, do yourself a favor. Just watch the original trilogy and pretend like the prequel trilogy doesn't exist.

Death, you should read the 4th page of this interview with one of the Star Wars producers of the first 3 films. He talks about Lucas being stubborn and screwing up the trilogy as well as Return of the Jedi. Also talks about how they prequels were supposed to be before Lucas got a hold of them.

I love the general idea of the whole sequence

I agree that the prequel is not as good as the original movies but it does show how something that in the beginning looked 'good' ....turns out into a horrible mistake

and well, it was jar jar binks the one that wanted the special powers for the chancellor so....

Read that interview that I linked to. The prequels were gonna be awesome. George Lucas just sucks are a writer/director.

IGNFF: Well what were the original outlines for the prequels? Since they can be compared and contrasted now that the first one's out there, and the second one's soon to be out there. Were there major differences from what you saw, from the original outlines of prequel ideas?

KURTZ: Well a lot of the prequel ideas were very, very vague. It's really difficult to say. I can't remember much about that at all, except dealing with the Clone Wars and the formation of the Jedi Knights in the first place – that was supposed to be one of the keys of Episode I, was going to be how the Jedi Knights came to be. But all of those notes were abandoned completely. One of the reasons Jedi came out the way it did was because the story outline of how Jedi was going to be seemed to get tossed out, and one of the reasons I was really unhappy was the fact that all of the carefully constructed story structure of characters and things that we did in Empire was going to carry over into Jedi. The resolution of that film was going to be quite bittersweet, with Han Solo being killed, and the princess having to take over as queen of what remained of her people, leaving everybody else. In effect, Luke was left on his own. None of that happened, of course.
