The move on the total favors the Yankees since they are favored @ -140 the oddsmakers obviously are expecting them to score numerous runs with Boston not scoring as many runs. :103631605

i really don't believe it favors anyone.the casino moves the number based on how much the public is playing on either side.as we all know the public is wrong most of the time so just go with your original capping and stay with it,more than likely you have the winner.its always better to go with your first instinct instead of the line change making up your mind for you

i had this discussion with a very sharp friend many years ago.
my opinion was that the lower the total or if the total gets bet
down with sharp money (especially if the favorite
is not an outrageously high priced favorite); then this benefits
the underdog as a random (lucky break) act has a better
chance of deciding the outcome as compared the same
game with more scoring. my friend was unconvinced and
felt that there was no difference or that it might favour the
favorite even more. we agreed to disagree.

this is how I look at it. lower scores give the favorite less chances to capitalize on their superiority

From what I understand "public money" doesn't move lines.

obviously it favors boston +1.5.....conversely it doesn't favor yankees -1.5

MUCH smaller scale....but same with the ML.....less runs scored give Boston slightly better chance....the more points, the longer the game, more batters, more pitchers....the better team is beneficial

that is why underdogs tend to want to shorten the games....applies for most sports with a clock
