apparently 400,000 people do today, in Indianapolis...
I know what you are saying, we used to know every driver, have pools, etc.....now Nascar gets all that action....but apparently this being the granddaddy of them all, still matters to alot of people....
Everyone i know just goes down there to party and could really give a shit about the race. I heard its quite party scene down there. Hoping to check it out myself one year.
second year in a row crash during the first lap. I was going to go and have several college friends that have been going every year for the past few years. Something came up and I was unable to attend.
not one bit here with the indy and imo nascar is a bigger joke these days too, sure a lot of people attends these races but the racing is no way as good as in the old scholl days...............ck
same here early 70's we watched the race as a family we all picked a driver put money in the pot winner take all( if no one won my dad kept the money i think lol).

You can't not help bet feel the history of the place when you walk inside that place. Its alot better in person with 400K+ there. Watching it on TV does not give it proper perspective, just like "hockey guy" saying the same thing. Its not as popular as it use to be, but go down to the first turn and watch them cars go 230+ around there and come back and tell me its not awsome. I'm not a racing guy, but that event is still cool. The partying the night before a mile in all directions is something else. Motor homes lined up everywhere, crazy secene. No other sporting event I would rather attend personally.
i live here in Indiana, and we sure dont hear about it like we used to....used to be a huge deal...every bar had boards to play, people wagering in pools, you planned your day around it...not anymore
