That didn't take long. Willis was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Monday after posting a 4.98 ERA, 1.78 WHIP and 33/29 K/BB ratio through nine games (eight starts) this season. The Tigers would obviously have to eat a substantial portion of his remaining contract, but they are already prepared to be on the hook for all of it just to get him out of town. The pitching-hungry Diamondbacks could at least provide a marginal prospect for their troubles.
