We knew Beckett wasn't going to be activated when he was eligible on Thursday, but this is bad news. Francona spoke with pitching coach John Farrell and decided that slowing down Beckett's rehab was in the pitcher's best interest. "What we talked about the other day in the bullpen - the inconsistency in his delivery...we lean on this guy too much," Francona said. "Until we can get to where he can get through his delivery, we're going to make him take it easy. I think he realizes that this is in his best interest and so we're going to be pretty firm on this one." Beckett is still able to do non-throwing activities, but clearly his timetable is pushed back. A late June return is probably a realistic guess at this point.
