Wow! How could you not be leaning toward an out call in that situation unless you were absolutely sure? I can't believe at that moment that he was totally sure.

Everyone there sees the replay except the umps. It made me sick hearing on ESPN that they feel more sorry for the ump than the pitcher. Really? Then they ban some guy that suggested that the ump was trying to upstage this monumental feat.

He probably was not, but no one will ever know for sure.

I can't believe Joice didn't have "out" on his mind before anything else when he saw that ball hit on the ground...would have been the first thing going thru my head.
I feel bad for both of them. MAYBE Selig will do something about this.

Hopefully Selig will do something. As someone who pitched into college I may have more of an axe to grind than most. You work that hard and have the extra glory taken away from you wrongly. He handled it very well, better than most would. If I were Leyland, and he is pretty easy going, I would probably have put up a more vehement argument.

If I were leyland I probably would have thrown the ump on the ground and shoved the ball down his throat.

The only thing about that is Leyland likes the ump. He has to work with him again. Besides he went to him after the game was final and give him some more. I think he was still worried about getting the win at the time.
