Moving cross country in a month.

Wondering if anyone who has done it can provide recommendations.

The big question is whether or not I should drive, or fly then ship my car.

I was quoted at $825 for the car shipment.

Going from the Detroit area to Los Angeles area.

If you've never drove you might as well. Doing it alone sucks though.

I just did it last year from Michigan to LA. Nebraska and Iowa, Utah was not so great. But you can dodge Nebraska and Iowa going down 75 to Dayton and taking I70 to Denver. The good thing about going with 94 to 80 way is Iowa has casinos at the state lines. I did enjoy the drive it would have been better if the wife was with me though. Let me know if you have questions about my trip. It wasn't that bad.
I might even do it again and drive to the bash in August.

TheRightSide would you recommend Detroit - St Louis - Oklahoma City - Albuquerque - Las Vegas - Los Angeles? 5 days of 7-8 hour segments. Or would you recommend shorter or longer segments?

I will be going with 1-2 other people, also have wireless broadband so it shouldn't be too bad. Having a hard time piecing a route together.

I'd drive it.

How much stuff do you want to move ?

Perhaps rent a box truck and tow the car ?

Well it all depends what you want to do on the way there. There are casinos in Iowa. You want to gamble you can on it on the way. Kansas City has casinos. Do you want night life. Iowa and Nebraska doesn't seem to be the places to go. I googled map Dayton to Las Vegas going that way you pass by Indy, Kansas City, Denver. I would go that way. You need to drive in the mountains one time in your life.

Good luck to you. BWT what city you live in here.
as you know there is nothing here for you. Get out of this shitty state and have a good life. Good luck to you.

Spent four weeks driving from Massachusetts to Nevada last summer. You have the perfect opportunity to see any place you have ever wanted to or visit anyone you know on that entire half of the continent. Take out a map of the country and identify places you want to see and things you want to do. Now imagine not being limited by geography. Why wouldn't you take advantage of that opportunity

I drove Cincy to Vegas several times, love it.

once took 40 out to 93, then 70 also. i like utah, but KS is BORING!

love route 66 along 40.

we went cincy to phoenix, then phoenix to vegas, then back through utah down 70. not a bad drive, we did that in 12 days roudtrip a few years back.

We lived in Scottsdale a year and made the trip back on a few times, easy 2.5 day trip
