CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Garrett Wittels extended his hitting streak to 56 games Saturday, but Florida International was eliminated by Dartmouth with a 15-9 loss in the NCAA Coral Gables regional.

Dartmouth next faces the loser of the game between Texas A&M and Miami.

Wittels hit an RBI double in the top of the first inning, leaving him two games shy of the Division I record set by Oklahoma State's Robin Ventura in 1987. Wittels' attempt to break the mark will resume next season.

He went 3 for 5 and finished the season with a .417 average and a school-record 100 hits.

Jason Brooks hit a tie-breaking grand slam in the sixth inning to put Dartmouth ahead 12-8.

Cole Sulser (8-0) picked up the win in relief, allowing two runs in five innings. Nick Polizanno (4-5) took the loss.

Zack Bellenger hit two homers for Dartmouth (27-18).

Yoandy Barroso and Tim Jobe homered for FIU (36-25).
