Amen to that...there are plenty of Iowa residents on the west side of Iowa who are Nebraska supporters....talk about a Civil War....

The SW section of Iowa indeed probably has more Cornhusker fans than Hawkeye fans...........ok, perhaps not, but it's close.

Nebraska is 33-30 in Big 12 games in the last 8 years including 8-16 against teams from the South. Go ahead, take the Big 12's mediocrity.

One of the best? I'd prefer the age old rivalry of Cats vs Dogs and watch them go at in an enclosed room. Hawkeye's vs Huskers? For some reason it just doesn't fancy me. I don't know if it's Iowa's uniforms, their colors, or what it is. I just don't take Iowa football seriously. Maybe it's because they just don't have the reputation as being a powerhouse or anywhere in the picture when it comes to major bowls. I guess given time and some seasoning this could develop into some heated rivalry but I think Wisconsin has a better chance of filling that rivalry gap than Iowa does for now.

No it won't. Nebraska's program and Iowa's program are not comparable on any level. The last time I watched them play in Iowa City it was a joke. And likely will continue to be. Iowa fans might want to try and turn it into a rivalry but it isn't.

You can cherry pick stats all you want, but the fact of the matter is Nebraska has a big time football program and so much so that it dictated what it wanted to do. You can be jealous. It's okay.

I guess Iowa defeating GT in the ORANGE BOWL didn't really happen.

Considering the fact that since 2000 the Huskers have finished the season ranked in the top eight only twice, whereas the Hawkeyes have finished in the top eight at seasons end no less then four times makes the above comment and yourself look rather foolish.

Iowa's a better program than Nebraska right now. Nebraska's days of glory are over.

In history, the NEB program has been head and shoulders above that of IOWA.................for the past ten years, Iowa has been the better program by a slight margin.

For the next upcoming nest 10 seasons, I would venture to guess that Iowa will continue to be the better current program.

Royalfan -- the Huskers have been irrelevant in football since the days of partial qualifiers ended. The days of a dominating program in Lincoln have been over for a while. The stats don't lie -- they have been a very mediocre program for the better part of a decade. The last conference championship was in 1999. They only played in the title game twice in that same period. They played in the northern part of the Big 12 -- which is by far the weaker part of the conference. I also believe that by cutting ties with the Texas schools they will have a very hard time recruiting in that very fertile recruiting land.

They have been much better than mediocre over the past 10 seasons.

Iowa program has leaped far ahead of Nebraska's over the past 10 years.
