3* Florida Gators -175

Hurricanes have owned the Gators over the years in post-season baseball no matter how good or bad either team has been. But this Gator head coach Kevin O'Sullivan has landed some of the top classes in the country and has Florida playing at a level never seen in program history. Jim Morris said earlier this year after Florida took 2 of 3 from Miami that this is the best Gator team he had ever faced.

Miami struggled to get by Texas A+M and they traditionally struggle vs. lefties. Alex Panteliodis goes for the Gators tonight and he is as polished of a lefty as there is in college baseball. He's the type of guy that won't give up many walks, he throws a lot of strikes, he doesn't miss his spots, and he should hold Miami in check. Florida's lineup is too powerful, and too good at home to lose this game with the lack of runs Miami will score.

i think this game is on ESPN tonight?

Billsy, I went on a 11-2 run in NBA after I stopped posting. Go figure.

Mobdeeper - Not trying to be cocky at all, but you'll be hard pressed to find anyone that knows more about college bases than I do. Of course, that doesn't guarantee victory, it just means higher percentage is in our favor.

Yes, it is on ESPN followed later by Cal State Fullerton on ESPN2. Are you surprised to see Cal Full as that much of a dog, or no?? With regard to your bucket plays, isnt that how it always works?? LOL Glad to see you are cashing!!!

No UCLA is starting Gerritt Cole who is probably the best pitcher in the country. He'll be in the Big Leagues in 3-4 years. Team USA's ace, he shuts everyone down. He's given up like 19 extra basehits in 100+ innings, so he basically only gives up 1 extra base hit per 9 innings.

Fullerton is red hot right now, 27-3 their last 30 games, and they have always been a very good small ball team to combat good pitchers like this. But they go on the road here to UCLA, and UCLA has big arms in their bullpen.

I will likely take Fullerton tomorrow but today I lean to UCLA

I don't have an O/U at my books, but I love that under.

UCLA's bats are average and UCLA starts the best arm in the country. Fullerton loves to play small ball traditionally, although they have a few big bats this year.

I see a 4-2 type UCLA win.

I wish my book offered college baseball lines. I know college baseball as well or better than anyone. If you want a winner, look hard at TCU. That team is damned good; probably the best team in the nation.

Game is at 12 noon I believe....

2* Coastal Carolina -130

South Carolina is always a dangerous team come tournament time, but this year's Cocks don't seem to have the killer instinct that past Ray Tanner programs have had.

They had a chance to win the SEC Crown, and stumbled going 6 and 7 down the stretch and let Florida take 2 out of 3 from them on their home field with the SEC on the line.

They had an easy regional and cruised into supers. They face Coastal Carolina who has not beaten the Cocks since 1995 (but they dont play very often).

The bottom line in this game is Coastal Carolina has mowed teams down all season. While their schedule isn't as tough as the SEC schedule that the Cocks play, Coastal has beaten teams like San Diego, North Carolina, Clemson, etc. They do it with solid pitching and a juggernaut offense. 6 players in their lineup have double digit homeruns, and they score double digit runs in the majority of their games.

South Carolina isn't the offensive force of year's past, partially due to losing Justin Smoak to the draft. This year's Cocks like playing 4-2 type ball games, but they shouldn't get that here. We should see a high scoring game between 2 solid, but non-spectacular arms, an amped up Coastal crowd, and a loaded Coastal lineup.

This is just Coastal's 2nd super regional appearance in program history and that lack of experience makes me keep this play small vs. a Ray Tanner program that knows how to get to Omaha.
