Go ahead and blast me if you choose.. If I need to get some sleep , I turn on a soccer game.

I would like to see the field shortened..

Or , play a world cup using my old P.E. rules of a game called Speedball.

We could catch it , run with it for 3 steps and then either pass it or put in back on the ground to kick it. We couldnt throw it in the net . It had to be kicked in.

Played on a soccer field. Dont say that sounds like rugby or Aussie rules football , cause it isnt even close. You cant tackle someone in speedball.

That would be fun to watch.

Wait until the players start their dives. It more resembles a bad stunt in a play rather than an attempt to get the referee to call a foul yet the ref almost always falls for it.

dont expect great soccer in the first rounds of this kind of tournament. the game can be very exciting and beautiful, but can be boring as any other game in any other sports.

No doubt. The same with NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, golf, tennis, etc.

You get the occasional exciting moments in them all. That's what Sports Centre is for.

With action and listening to Led Zepelin while watching, though, it gets quite a bit more interesting.

Only one time I had a lot of fun watching a soccer game it was when USA was a +350 dog to Mexico in the world cup 2002 (was lucky enough to bet USA in that one)

I tried watching this morning, really did not do it for me either.

The reason why soccer is so popular is; it's the cheapest sport to play, you just need a ball, no equipment needed like North American sports. Second reason easiest sport to understand the rules. 17 laws of football which includes field size and scoring and that's it. Just look at all the ignorance and stupidity rampant in the world. You really think people want to take the time to learn how to play another sport?
