Been in an epic funk lately, where everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Ubaldo was hittable last night, and though the rain will probably keep the odds where I want them in his next start against the American League, it didn't help my cause last night as the Jays lost in a rain shortened game. Ugh.

Gotta keep grinding.

Angels +145, 1.5 wins 2.18

A former White Sox prospect who I followed coming through their system, John Ely was traded to the Dodgers in the Juan Pierre deal. He's got a plus-plus change up that is set up by an average fastball and curve, and has taken advantage of pitching the NL West. Once considered a fifth starter at best, he's now an incredibly large favorite over the surging Angels who can take over first place in the AL West with a win today and a Rangers loss. Simply too good of value to pass up.

White Sox +147, 1.5 wins 2.21

Buehrle has been terrible this season, though he's shown flashes of brilliance, while Silva has shown nothing but brilliance. While Silva has proven me wrong in the past, I'm again falling for the value on this White Sox team that has won four games in a row and is very familiar with both Silva and the Cubs line up. Like Sherwood said, there is simply no way this Cubs team deserves to be this much of a favorite, even with Buehrle sputtering and I'm going to take advantage.

That was why I asked about your LA play.

Ely was shit in his last start and has never been considered much more than a fringe major leaguer or at best, a fifth starter. The NL has helped him thus far, and he won't have that luxury against the Angels. Although, his ground ball/pitching to contact style is taylormade for Dodger Stadium, I see a regression in his future.

A split is still profitable, and that's what I'm in it for. Though I can't say I'm pulling for that result.
