Brent Musburger will remain the lead football play-by-play announcer for the SEC Network after agreeing to a multi-year contract extension, it was
announced Thursday.
Musburger, 77, has been with the SEC Network since its launch in August 2014. He will continue to call Saturday SEC prime-time games alongside analyst Jesse Palmer.
"The SEC is the best football conference in the country. You can't beat it," Musburger said. "Terrific football, clearly — year in and year out. The conference has been tremendous to work with. I'm glad the SEC Network is such a great success. It's been great working with Jesse Palmer."
Musburger has spent more than 50 years in broadcasting, including 28 years at CBS. He joined ABC and ESPN in 1990 before moving to the SEC Network full-time two years ago.
Kaylee Hartung will now serve as sideline reporter on Saturday night SEC Network broadcasts. She replaces Maria Taylor, who is
taking over as host of SEC Nation, the network's weekly traveling pre-game show.
Taylor replaces Joe Tessitore, the new play-by-play man on ESPN's Saturday prime-time games. Tessitore in turn replaces Brad Nessler, who is
moving to CBS to replace the retiring Verne Lundquist.
Also joining the SEC Nation team is reporter Laura Rutledge, the wife of former Alabama baseball star Josh Rutledge. Analysts Tim Tebow, Paul Finebaum and Marcus Spears return to the SEC Nation set this year.
Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy was on the SEC Nation team last year, but will move into the booth as a game analyst this year. He will also as work as a studio analyst for SEC Now.
