Australia is solid defensively, but doesn't create many scoring chances. Imo Germanys biggest weakness might be their defense, where Mertesacker and Friedrich had their fair share of problems and mistakes over the last couple of games. But both have more trouble against quick guys and fast playing teams, so they should actually do ok against the Socceroos.
Germany on paper is inferior compared to past teams and other countries, but they have played together for quite a while and lots of these players also play for the same clubs, so their team play is pretty good. Also looks like they have a great team chemistry going once again, but on the other hand Australias good defense and their hardnosed style could cause trouble to Germany.
I'm actually a bit stunned that after 7 games we have seen no match with more than 2 goals and not a single team has scored twice so far...would have made sense if the playing fields were bumpy and in bad condition, but the pitches are really good, so that can't be the reason...
