I say not, 2-3 outs will work.

Knowing the best side is it.

Many worry about getting the best number, you can get it EASY with 2-3 outs of a decent book. If you have any clout, you will get booted, or shit lines at the candy shops. so doesnt really matter

You can get the best number at least 80% of the time with Pinnacle, Matchbook, and 5dimes.

Sounds good right? Wrong.

That means if you roll over your bankroll 100s of times per year and make 25% per year, you'd probably lose money each year if you didn't get the best number 20% of the time.

A place to bet is only worth having if it provides +EV opportunity. And if you only have one place, so long as they offer that, you'll still be winning money, just at a smaller fraction of the pace

more outs you have makes for more plays you can make as you can find more soft lines, better numbers, overlays, weak props etc...

..if you have 1 out you can still make it but with many many many less plays and therefore less overall profits..

2-3 outs not nearly enough for me.

TTT is right about soft lines.
3 outs is fine, providing one is an exchange.

Nobody rolls their bankroll over 100 times a year unless they are a pro. 3-4 outs with reduced juice is plenty for someone that has a job, yet wants to win at this every year.

It's not feasible for an American to have 20 outs. It's just not possible in todays's climate. You get the best number within your 5 outs and bet reduced juice. A half-point is worth a lot, but missing a half point because one book offered it for 20 minutes isn't going to break a player. Safety of funds and transferring between books is the most important thing today.
