I've seen other threads on music so I thought I would introduce some classical music to some of you who may not have had a chance to enjoy this music. I know, I know, it's kind of stuffy and only highbrow people like it. Well I don't believe that to be true.

So in order to convince you otherwise I've decided to post some non-stuffy classical music videos. I invite others to post their favorites as well.

This piece is "Claire de Lune" which means Moonlight and was composed by Claude Debussy. I think the presentation is quite original as well.

Anyone else have any favorite classical videos they care to post?

Whereas "Claire de Lune" exhibits beauty in complexity "Adagio for Strings" exhibits beauty in simplicity. Very moving.

Anyone who loves classical music and has kids should have them watch "Fantasia" by Disney. I remember this song in that movie. Our music teacher played it when we were in grade school as an introduction to classical music.

One of my favorite songs from that movie is "Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorgsky:

Most beginning and intermediate pianists learn this one:

<object height="385" width="480">

Though the 3rd movement is quite a bit more challenging.

<object height="385" width="480">

At one time I could play the first from memory, and the second with music.

I typically think of Mozart as being a "stuffy" composer. However, this piece is nice and light.

Another thing I've notice about this piece is that instead of just having the scales going up and down, Mozart puts in nice melodic transitions.

One thing I find interesting about classical music is that it is so varied. In one type of classical music you can have violins and other strings. In another piece you can have flutes and clarinets and other wind instruments. In yet another piece you have piano as the main instrument.

In this piece you have horns and drums.
